  2. Looking at reinstalling the 4-speed monkey motion (including the R180) into my 240z, but obviously need to service everything. I saw an amazing list of 240z fasteners from @inline6 (linked here), and wondering if similar thing exists for the seals, gaskets, pinions, bearings, bolts, washers, o-rings and such that can be replaced when servicing transmission/differential? I have a very pricey Motorsport Auto cart ready to go, but I'm confident I've missed a lot. I also reached out to ZCarDepot, but they understandably didn't have anything collated, and as far as I know, a "restoration bundle" doesn't exist anywhere. I had noticed ZCarDepot had a few bolts that ZStore didn't have, but going a bit crazy cross referencing. I know the microfiche and FSM could be of use here, but as a first-timer I get a little lost and looking to help myself out! Bonus points for any other Google Sheet resources beyond this need that might be useful for reference! A bit of a sucker for a database. Any help or steer would be appreciated, thank you!
  3. Hi all! Looking to replace the ancient aftermarket exhaust system on my Series 1 240z, and curious what the best options available to me are. I saw a car recently on BaT that had the original style black tips, but not sure where that came from. I've never seen it on my internet travels. Check it out here: https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1970-datsun-240z-129/ I'd like to be as stock/OEM as possible. Pretty sure my headers are original, but would need muffler, exhaust, mounts etc.
  4. I don't think they ever made a Hitachi TM-1081 with a left-hand side volume knob? At least I've never seen one. And interesting theory about reproduction vs. original. It's definitely a strong one. One person I talked to reminded me that they threw parts at the early cars and couldn't keep up early on — often outsourcing production to multiple suppliers (not sure if that is 100% accurate or not) — so it could just be that one factory made it one way, and another made it another.
  5. Hi all! I'm spending most of March in Japan, and as I'm slowly restoring my 240z, figured there may well be some treasure troves of parts hidden away somewhere I can get to. Either that or a friendly enthusiast who might be good to meet! If you know of anywhere or anyone, I'd love recommendations or introductions.
  6. No sooner had I sent the above, did I notice this product from the same seller. Look like the vent duct (exterior) and the plenum (interior).
  7. Oh! Super interesting... my guess is that the product you linked would be instead of the vent duct (last link I posted from Zeddsaver)? Or in addition to?
  8. Hi everyone. I had some expected issues with the rear hatch vents coming loose on my 10/70 240z, so I was looking into replacing them. I've been researching which components would be stock, and could use some pointers as I can't find much in FSM and other documentation. Am I correct in that I will need all of the below? As far as I can tell, there are four pieces (a few associated questions below): The deck lid grille (hatch vents) themselves. I have these. Question: These are now plastic, but were these ever metal on the original cars? The cylindrical receiving clips for the deck lid grille. I have these. These are pretty standard. They come included with many sales online (specifically with TheZStore, where I got mine) The rectangular retainer clips into which the barrel clips are inserted. I have the originals but I want to replace them with new ones. The photo in this link shows them clipped onto the vent duct (see #4 below), but the vent duct is not included in this price. A vent duct (or plastic receiving cowl) that somehow seems to fit in the vent space. Question: Is this stock? Do I need this? I want to be as original as possible. I don't see it listed on any site other than Zeddsaver, and this wasn't present in my car when I removed my deck lid grilles. The ones here are 3D printed and $239.99— a hefty price. Thanks so much for any help or knowledge you might have! Trying to wrap my head around this.
  9. I'll do you one better: I have some spray adhesive I can use on the paper and stick it to the foam.
  10. Ah this is exactly what I needed. Thanks so much @jfa.series1 and @SteveJ for the assist. If you have a folder of these scans/plans, I'd happily send some $$$ for access!
  11. Hey everyone, I'm trying to figure out a good method or replacement part for the rubber seal inside of the license plate assembly on my early 240z. I recently opened the assembly to replace a bulb and noticed that the rubber seal/gasket (seemingly for waterproofing) was deteriorating and falling apart. I'm wondering what you'd recommend to replace the rubber gasket and if there are any aftermarket parts available. I'm assuming Nissan doesn't have this available anymore. Any tips or information would be much appreciated! Thanks so much.
  12. Cheers for the quick reply. I'd spent a while searching, but could only find expensive repackaging of the FSM PDFs. For some reason, emanualonline doesn't seem to show me the Haynes book... just alternative service manuals. I'm thinking that perhaps I need to pay to scan them both myself. A little surprised that no digital versions exist! Thanks so much for the pointers.
  13. Hi all, I own both the classic Haynes manual and Wick Humble's How To Restore Your Z-Car in print form, but I'm trying to find PDFs for purchase or download (if your copyright views of already-owned material swing that way). Does anyone know where I could find them? I'd love them in digital form to aid in access when in and around the shop or away from home. Plus them being easily searchable on my computer/iPad would be a productivity boon for me. Any leads are welcome! Please note I do already own both of these in various versions, so I'm not looking to do anything illegal here. Cheers, N.
  14. Resurrecting this just to say I have HLS30 12365, built 10/70, also in 920 Safari Gold. Very close to this car. It has L24-016455 under the hood.
  15. Hi all, Does anyone have any insight on the different fonts used on the Series 1 AM radio faceplate for the numbers? I can see two styles: A more rounded sans serif font, as seen here, here and here (on the $310k BaT sale) A stenciled, almost "military" style block font, as seen here and here I'm unsure if it's factory differences, a different model (I've seen references of a Hitachi TM-1081 with different Z and B codes), or simply restoration work. Any information would be appreciated as I'm trying to acquire an original, correct radio for my 10/71 Series 1. Attaching images here also incase the links go dead in the future.
  16. Hi there, Looking to add a trustworthy and expert detailer to the rolodex. I don't have much experience here, and worried about going to a normal detailer with a vintage car. Any pointers are welcome! Thanks, all.
