  1. I’ve decided to do the work myself. I’m going to enjoy the car long term and learn some things. Thank you. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  3. I removed the drivers seat today in preparation of installing new foam and seat covers. I'm providing some pictures here looking for ideas and the proper way to rebuild the seats. This is the bottom of the seat, lots of dry rot. Is there a way to replace these straps like original? The back adjuster seems to be missing a part, or is this how it looks? Any idea where I can get the parts to fix this? Is there a replacement part for these plastic protectors? Or material I can make new ones out of ? How are people doing this ? Things I found under the seat. Where can I find one of these ? Additional photos. The seat rails look like they are a military green. The grease is still in place but dried out. The fact that the grease is still there since 1970 is interesting. Any ideas what kind of grease this is? It's dry nature might be natural, but I doubt it? I'm not sure rebuilding these is something I'm going to be able to do, I may need to take them to a shop. I'm just concerned they will throw them together and not be concerned with getting them close to correct.
  4. I ordered a set today. I’m thinking about how I”m going to get the work done. I might attempt it, or I might take it to a professional.
  5. I think I'll order a set tomorrow.
  6. what about this company: https://interior-innovations.com/product/datsun-240z260z280z-genuine-leather-seat-covers/
  7. I’ve decided to keep the car and do what I can myself. I’m driving it now, and I plan on driving it often. I drove it the other day for about 120 miles. What I haven’t done is checked out the suspension. at this point I want to replace anything necessary to ensure everything in the suspension is safe. I would imagine there are some good ideas here on how to go through my suspension, bearings etc. anything that requires grease ?? Any ideas ?
  8. Will this work for my 1970 Series 1? Also, keeping the car original, should I try to use the original seat cover? Is there such thing as an original new cover?
  9. Thanks for the encouragement
  10. My seats 70 series one seem to be in good shape, but some what compressed. Is there a product out there that would make it possible for me to rebuild my seats, or should I leave this to a professional? Also, are there original carpet kits available ? This may be what I'm looking for:
  11. That site has what looks like a lot of good stuff. Why no returns? I had to return stuff prior to knowing I had a series one. It was my fault for ordering products that don't fit my car, but that's how we learn.
  12. It's pretty easy to admit when you make mistakes, fix what can be fixed and move on.
  13. That seems to be the consensus! That’s too bad people let things get that bad Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  16. Looking for shops to do a restore. I'm considering a complete restore of my 1970 240z series one. I'm in the Sacramento area. If I was to say in California, that would be 500 miles south and 300 miles north, so I'll consider CA or any place within 500 miles.
  17. California, Sacramento area
  18. I see great restore projects being performed at home. I like the idea of doing this, but I also like the idea of having it done. Who would you trust to do a full restore?
  19. I ordered some of the grommets he mentioned. you can buy 4 at a time now. I ordered 12 just in case. I'm trying to only do work that I can put back together in a day. I really like driving the car so I don't wan it to be down. .

  21. There are only 4 screws and 2 nuts that need to be removed, I found a nice diagram I’ll post here as soon as I find it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. I took the register and cleaned it up. The tracks were all full of dried up grease. Some of the grease took a screw driver to get out. I had to pull all the tracks to clean them. Cleaned the register in my parts cleaner, and then I did a final cleaning with the products in the picture. All gun oil and grease. The good news I got it back together and it works. I adjusted everything by rolling the window up and down finding the smoothest place for each of the tracks and tightening them up. I left all the tracks a little bit loose and rolled the window up and down until one of the tracks stopped moving, when it stopped I tightened it up. that worked pretty well. It doesn't seem to be binding up.
