  1. Aren't we all different? I just choose not to be different in that way. Get a Z first, you might change your mind about that Toyota engine or VH45DE, etc. Having owned a Q45, I can state from experience that you would be hard pressed to find a more difficult engine to work with. And in a Z? I've seen a couple of stories of people doing the VH45DE/Z conversion, I believe we discussed one here some time ago, but it's not a project I'd be willing to take on.
  2. As I said earler, I emailed him. This is his response for whatever it's worth:
  3. Did you see the 1954 Oldsmobile 88 GM concept car go for $3,240,000 including auction fees? Incredible!
  4. Oh, that's a long, long story! It has been discussed at length. Search for the thread I believe entitled Midwest Z???.
  5. sblake01 commented on BuujinBejiita's gallery image in Big Z Photo Collection
  6. A 77 280Z would not have an O2 sensor. They didn't show up here until 79 when the 280ZX came out.
  7. It's a 280-no ballast resistor.
  8. Back in the day, we called them 'gulp valves'.
  9. My Z (and the others) will have a new home in two months. (I hate long escrows but the owner insisted). The house has an over size two car garage with enough space to build a room/storage area in the rafters of the garage since the house has cathedral ceilings. My wife likes the house, I like the garage, you know how that is. Can't wait, will post pics.
  10. A properly operating Air Regulator will warm up the engine fast enough but too fast an idle just wastes gas but a Z motor sounds good at any speed.
  11. Here's a set. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7950561799&category=33692&sspagename=WDVW
  12. Let's see here. You can't fix the distributor so you solution is to change out the entire drive train? Ah, the exuberance of youth!
  13. I emailed him and said "You are kidding, right?" and have yet to receive a response.
  14. It that evidence of a little coolant leak where your radiator hose connects to the water neck?

Okay, okay, okay! I'll just settle for OLD!
  16. Is that typo on purpose?
  17. I guess you haven't seen the 'Turbo Twins' video. They actually slowed the cars down with that setup. The general consesus on that setup is 'steer clear!'
  18. I had a set of those (actually 2) on my Pinto (!) years ago. They were decent carbs in that they worked well. The car started up fine, ran well, and the fuel mileage was decent. I have no first had knowlege of them on Datsun engines and I would think that you would have more trouble sourcing parts for them than you would with Webers or Mikunis.
  19. What is the affordability difference between being married and living together? I don't really want to sidetrack this thread but I don't get the comment.
  20. Well, since that is the 'idle speed adjustment screw,' I would assume that no one should have to tell him that. 900-1200 rpm is actually a bit on the fast side.
  21. If it truly is a TT (Z32) and it runs, and not just another of those single turbo pos Z31s (that's my opinion) about $10-15K later, you might have something there. But, why bother?
  22. Bill just doesn't appreciate the 'seldom seen' Datsuns. That car would be a big hit at the local Nissan/Datsun shows. Thanks for the pics.

Bill, that's an amazingly insightful statement comming from someone your age! :surprised
  24. It was also sold in the US and I'm sure in other markets as well. But the Z31 would have a VG30ET not a VG30DET. (Single cam w/distributor vs Dual cam distributor-less)
