  1. A 1977 280z will have to be smog checked in California. If you know the VIN or the Caifornia license number which I can't make out in the pics, you can check it's smog check history back to about 1997 at http://159.145.15.175/StdPage.asp?Body=/ActiveStns/PubTstQry.htm
  2. Those look like the ones that originally had a wire basket insert. They seem pretty plain without them.
  3. Gotta love that dialogue.
  4. Evidently. Though mine is OEM and I'm sure yours is too, I'm just curious as to why the spacing would be different. Don't all US states use the same size plate?

And that list doesn't work all that well anyway because y'all keep quoting the 'ignoree'.

Well put, BRE-240Z. Hence my response (#21). Also the reason that my ignore list is as large as it is.
  7. I'm not really sure if I understand what you are saying about the spacing since I have a 78 and my front plate is bolted directly to those threaded holes. All of which has nothing to do with the topic of the thread.

If a 240Z hazzard switch is wired anything like a 280Z, you'll also lose your turn signals while it's fuse is removed or the hazzard switch is unplugged. My guess would be that the switch itself is shorted/stuck/broken in the on position and needs to be replaced.

    Whoop! Da it iz!
  10. I dare say it has quite a few more than 30K based on the 'disclaimer' following the listed mileage.
  11. Many US states have only a one state requirement. Arizona comes to mind but there are others. California requires two.
  12. Terms like 'fully restored' generally turn me away from a car since the meaning differs from seller to seller. And on a car that technically has no frame, a term like 'Frame up resto', though that was Austen's term not the seller's, don't really make much sense to me without some kind of explanation. With a reserve somewhere between 13.5-18.5k, I'm sure we'll see this car on eBay again. Not to mention the '0' feedback score.
  13. Still don't understand the fuel injection? That four barrel will just cause you more problems.
  14. I should have asked this. Are you attempting to use the 83 shifter? Perhaps all you need to do is change to the earlier shifter.
  15. Like I said, I've never tried it so I'm not really sure that it would work. The MSA kit consists of a shift lever that is longer from the pivot hole to the base, a couple of adapters that fit on the ears where the stock shift lever mounts, raising the pivot points and the hardware to secure them. The early stock (78) shifter fits and works in the later (83) trans. That's combination I've been running in mine for the last 10 years or so. The 83 trans has enough room above the original pivot holes to drill holes at least one inch higher than where they are now. Unless the MSA shifter raises the pivot holes higher than that, I don't see why you couldn't just drill the holes and use the shifter that comes with the kit without the rest of the stuff that comes with it other than the side and base bushings.
  16. Though I've never tried it, I would think, since the later ZX tranny has more room above the stock hole where the shifter mounts, you could drill holes that line up with the MSA short shifter lever from their kit and toss their little adapter plates and the hardware that goes with them.
  17. You or your computer?
  18. Don't know much about ZX's but here's a 1982 power window diagram and trouble shooting algorithm. Should be the same as an 83.
  19. The story is an urban legand. Read the Snopes story. Somebody did get a lot of cars but he most likely bought all of them.
  20. Nice vid! Love the cars, love the music, love the scenery.
  21. They are most likely smooth. The ones I purchased from them a cjouple of years ago for my 78 were smooth but I'm not sure that 78's ever had braided hoses. Not really important to me as I want hoses that work rather than hoses that are or look original. The thought of driving a car with hoses that have been sitting somewhere unused for well over 30 years is kind of scary.
  22. Let him post. Pretty soon it will have 10000 miles. That has to affect the price. No takers on your latest eBay auction? You already know that there are none here. I wonder how many ignore lists you're on.
  23. Are your pictures within the maximum filesize limit?
  24. I just got off the phone w/Lisa at Bruce Titus Auto Group/Nissan Parts.cc. She says that both are still available. The inlet hose is 27181-E4401 and the outlet is 27185-E4401. Both for a 72. They are $6.53 and $7.38 ea. plus shipping ($6.95) at http://www.nissanparts.cc/ or you could just take those part numbers and order them from your local dealer. The price each would be a couple dollars more but you wouldn't have to pay shipping that way.
