  1. Love the color:classic:
  2. Okay, my take on this stuff, after doing the hood and roof of my 810, is that it's no better than the Meguiar's products I've been using as far as the results but it is easier to use since it does it in one step. I guess I have to wait to see how long the wax part of it holds up.
  3. I've had that happen with my internally regulated alternators also. I used to open them up and replace the regulator unit but those are getting harder to find and it's much easier just to replace the whole thing. I've had regulators die on a few occasions over the years and never really figured out a cause other than age.
  4. I've always used the Meguiar's products with good results. The 810 spends it's life outside so it generally needs more work than the Z or the truck. I thought I'd give this stuff a try since they claim iit does all three stages with one product. And Leno endorses it:)
  5. Be very careful removing that housing. Those bolts break easily. Especially the ones that go into the head.
  6. What car is that? In your profile it says 74 260Z and there were no black Zs until the 78 BPE.
  7. I think it would be better to mount it solidly. The extra movement of it just being mounted by the hoses might cause the hoses to wear. Oh, and it's not a MAS, simply and AFM (Air Flow Meter). And being a AFM rather than a MAFS, it's much heavier and would probably put extra stress on the hoses. Our cars EFI systems weren't sophisticated enough to have a MAFS.
  8. Oooooh, Darrell, you said what I was thinking. A couple of years ago I would have made that comment, I guess I'm getting old(er).
  9. Well, I'll give System One credit for one thing, they're fast! I ordered from them at 10:30 am yesterday (Tuesday) and at 3:30 pm today (Wednesday) the product arrived! Albeit it's only coming from the Anaheim/Santa Ana area to San Bernardino, about 55 miles, but that is quick! I haven't had a chance to use it yet, probably Friday and I'll let you know what I think. I'm going to use it on my DD 810 which sits in the sun all of the time. If it works on that, it'll work on anything.
  10. My comments were based on street use. Nothing wrong with brass bushings I just perfer not to use them in my cars because, to me, the vibration is annoying. Track use is a different story.
  11. I've tried brass a couple of times over the years in various Datsuns. My conclusion: Properly installed and lubed OEM nylon lasts a long time and doesn't create the vibration that brass does. That's the main reason they use nylon instead of some kind of metal. If the vibration doesn't bother you, then use brass. They still wear but not as fast.
  12. In the user CP, in Edit Options, down in the Miscellaneous Options area in the Message Editor Interface, are you using Standard editor-extra formatting controls?
  13. It's not the clutch, it's the fan itself. The mounting surface was moved from the front edge of the fan to the rear, moving the fan farther forward to accommodate the cars with three row pulleys. Here are the two different fans. Note the mounting surface locations. The first one will sit farther away from the radiator than the second one. From what I understand, the OEM plastic fans will not fit the clutch that was used with the metal fan
  14. Hey, webdawg, I recall fixing your links in the past. You must have something in your user cp that prevents urls for parsing properly in your posts. http://www.zzxdatsun.com/280z_stuff.html
  15. Did you ever sell yours?
  16. 24161-A0100 is the part number for the 80 amp-1.25mm2. Not sure if Nissan still carries them. If you can't find any, I have a few good spares.
  17. I caled System One this morning. They're located in Anaheim, Ca. They don't have any distributors yet so you have to order direct from them. The 8oz. X3 polish is $15.95, the 32oz. is $30.75, and the gallon is $108. I didn't ask about anything larger. They sell it in sizes up to a 55 gallon drum! Anyway, I ordered an 8 oz. to try it out and I'll let you know how it works.
  18. Some of the replacement E12-80 modules are made in the US. Does it look like this?
  19. Wait, one more side note, if I use the S130 power mirror switches on my 810, pushing it left makes the mirror go right and vice versa because the 810 switches are wired differently since they mount in the dash instead of the console. (End of sub-hijack)
  20. Everything I've ever read on the US models indicates that the 1979 280ZX would be the first to get them. On a side note, with all the other stuff like power mirrors, steering, 6 way adjustable seats, etc., I wonder why they didn't put power windows in the 810.

That wouldn't be the one that was for sale up there a couple of years ago that even had a small blurb on a Washington news cast?
  22. I tap the mounting end opening with a tapered cylindrical wedge to make sure it's not out of round and then it fits tightly without the need for sealant.
  23. Same thing as rxsleeper says except I use robo grip plier with rubber 'robo guards' over the teeth to avoid scraping the tube or whatever I'm trying to remove.
  24. Bo, my statement was more general rather than directed at anyone. After all, neither of you were the original poster and I was just giving my opinion. I don't know the condition of the wiring or what's been upgraded. Damn, I wish people wouldn't take things so personally here. I really don't care what anyone does to their car. It's their car.
