Dashboards
I recently bought a restored dash off ebay (restored by dashboard resto), and I kinda expected more quality than what I got. The surface seems kinda weird, I know it isn't supposed to match exactly but this one just looks stretched weird in some places, and there's a 'dent' between the middle gauges and tach. Oh well, I didn't pay full resto price so I'll take it.

Cylinder Head rebuild tips
I am planning on calling in a favor from my old boss who owes me money to have his friend (owns a local machine shop) to refresh my cylinder head (E88) and install a new cam. I was wondering what oddball things he'll need to be especially careful of when redoing this head like not removing the came towers? I know I really should have a shop familiar with Datsuns work on this but hey, it's free?

California- Zcar nationals road trip?
Just wondering if anyone along the CA coast has ever tried getting a run started for a trip to the Z car nationals every year? Me and a buddy here on the forums were talking about it and thought it would be a great idea if all of us planning on going this April met eachother along the way and drive as a huge group into the show! Anyone interested?

Maxima Alternator Conversion
Yeah I know how to do the conversion to internal regulation and the diode as well. The maxima alternator doesn't have the same T connector though. It has a rectangular connector that plugs into the side and has the two spade connectors parralel. One wire is yellow and about 18g, the other is a 10g white. I'm assuming the thin wire is probably the warning light. Anyway, I'll talk to one of my buddies who does wiring to figure it out. I still need time to get a volt/fuel guage to replace my amp guage anyway. Thanks for all the help guys!

Maxima Alternator Conversion
Dave - a picture really is worth a thousand words. I get it now, at least converting to internal regulation. Now I just need to figure out what wire corresponds to what from the new alternator plug!

Maxima Alternator Conversion
I read the article on Zhome, but the description isn't really that great. I'm more of a visual person too so pictures would have helped (the ones on Zcarcreations.com are kinda confusing). I know I need to cut off the plug coming from the voltage regulator and wire it up to some other wires at the alternator, but I'm not sure if I'm supposed to wire it back into the harness alternator connections or directly to the alternator! Maybe I'm missing something. Anyway, I'm doing this because since I put in an electric fan and upgraded my headlights, everything goes dim at idle at night. Since the Z's charging system was made to accomodate just the stock system I figure I should upgrade.

Maxima Alternator Conversion
Ok so I got a Maxima alternator that puts out 90 amps and I've been spending the last hour trying to find a good description of how to wire this thing in. Alas I keep getting random bits here and there but nothing concrete. Has anyone here done this and would like to take pity on me by writing a good article on it?

Bumpers
Are the 260z bumpers unique to that model? From what I know the 240s had the small useless bumpers and from the 260 on was the huge crash bumpers. So maybe you could find a 280z bumper out there somewhere.

T5 Swap into early Z
Not sure about the fit in a 72/73 since the tranny crossmembers and center consoles are different. I stuck the stock 240 clutch in because the one I got with the T5 looked a little messed up. All I had to do was swap over the pilot bushing from the stock 4 speed to the T5. If you do this swap be sure to use the stock 240 clutch fork since it's adjustable, I forgot but it still works. Everything has been working great so far, the only annoyance is a small teaspoonful of tranny fluid under the car when it's parked in the same spot for a couple days.
