Yes bambi, that is what I was asking. That is what I expected too but the seller pulled the cam and valve cover off. I must say that I am partially at fault for not being 100% clear on what I expected. He is making good on it though, late last night he said that I can have the missing items. I just wanted to make sure that I was not being unreasonable in expecting thecomplete head ready to bolt onto a block.

Generally speaking what would you expect to get if you were to buy a head from an individual?

Oh, I just thought of a stupid question as I am still quite new to all of this. The axle flanges, these are somthing on the outside of the diff on each side where the axle attaches. Yes? And you would have to swap them because the diff was in the front and will not be in the rear therefore the left side is not on the right side and visa versa, correct?

2many, on the 3.90 R-180: 720 4x4 1/83-6/83 is that the front or rear diff, or are they the same? A follow-up question is that diff a drop-in swap or do you know if there is other work/parts required?

Since the 720 is also a Datsun will it be a drop-in? Where did yours come from?

You're welcome. I am always glad to help when I can. I have opted not to go for an R200 at this time due to the amount of work and extra expenses involved in the swap. I'd rather find an R180 with a 3.9 gear since this would be a drop-in swap.

I forgot to get back to you on this one. I just wanted to say hey thanx guys! 10mm 1.5 thread was perfect, the engine is on the stand ready for me to start learning how to tear it down and build it back up. It's a little scary but I'm really looking forward to the experience! :nervous:

I have just pulled everything off this site (html, all links, all images, etc). The html has to be cleaned up a bit as there are references to Geocities still which cause the little popup to still appear but at least the info will not be lost now. I will clean up the html and ditch all the references to Geocities. Ok, it sounds like there may be some confusion and misinformation here. To summarize will someone please tell us in which car(s) an R180 3.9 can be located? As well as where an R180 3.7 can be found?

He replied to me stating that he would be adding the VIN to the auction soon...and he did. Here's a quote from his update on the auction: "THIS IS A 1971 240 Z, NOT A 1970. THE VIN# IS: HLS3023407. THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR EMAILS, PHONE CALLS AND QUESTIONS....ALL ORIGINAL BOOKS ARE INCLUDED...."

Is $100 (including shipping) for an R200 3.9 a good price? How hard are they to install in a 240Z and what else will I need to do so? OH! Also, is there a way to tell what the ratio is without opening the unit?
