Hi, I post photos of an HITACHI LT145-35,I happened to get it yesterday.I was trying to rebuild old one myself,but the shop which I ordered some minor rebuilding parts for my old HITACHI had the completely rebuild LT145-35. I was so surprised and I bought it about $230 U.S. I was stupid I did not take pictures before installing. Will continue report about this. kats

Hi,I do not know much about these technique but I wish someone replicate following parts,if they are made,I am sure I buy them. #1 A rubber grommet for anntenna drain tube #2 R & L seat cushion plastic side protector #3 A rear deck inner weatherstrip early(76912-E4100) #4 5 Bridgestone superspeed radial-20 175-SR14!!!! 26th-Z, The heat shield has holes in the middle,this is very very rare.It makes me imagine the hole was a hand craft made.I want to know why they made this heat shield?With this heat shield,the spring rate was a different from another one? Also the "up-side down"throttle linkage is unique.My 03/1970 240Z has a early one,just same as 26th-Z showed us."up-side down"one is a later type,so is there something changing later? Carl, First, I looked up the part number of oil press.sending unit in the NOV 1969 parts catalog,there is a 25240-89910 SWITHCH-OIL PRESSURE in the Electrical section "25-1/switches, flasher unit & cigarette lighter" But,I felt something unusual by cross-cheking my another parts catalog DEC 1979 FINAL ISSUE.It begins from 25070-89910 SWITHCH-OIL PRESSURE (10KG). I recheked NOV 1969 catalog,I could not find 25070-89910first,but finaly I made it by serching from part number index,the number is in the Electrical section "26/speedometer,tachometer & combination meter" I do not know why,25070-89910 is described "ASSY-GAUGE OIL PRESSURE ENGINE" and the picture for this number is a combination gauge,oil pressure portion. This style of discription is continued to first Rev.Mar 1970,and second Rev.Jun 1970. So I went to the local NISSAN and asked them show me both,25240-89910 & 25070-89910.And I bought one 25070-89910. Hi 26th-Z, Hmm,I thought the cap was not black.But it is black...Simply the cap is shining,reflecting the light so it looks much brighter than black. More I am interested in your brochure,1969 brochure.Is there date of issue on the back?I can not find any date on my brochure,just unreadable code on the back. I hope you can see them.But they are not so special for you... I attached these pictures,#1/from the earliest manual and #2/my engine 5 years ago.Both show the heat shield with lower hole for the springs.And both show these S.U. do not have a drain bolts at a float chamber.This is a signe of early S.U. kats PS.26th-Z,I guess the distributer cap was gray at very early production,but later turned black without changing part number.But I do not know when the change was made.Please see carefuly this last picuture,this is from very famous brochure in the U.S. I guess printed early 1970,the distributer cap is not black,seems to me grayish color.This car has an early type cabin air duct which has a metal basement.So this car maybe 1969/Jan 1970 model. kats

Hi Carl, Thank you for telling me,I revise my website. Screw or Bolt?In a service manual it said "screw" but in a parts catalog"bolt".Switch or Sending unit?Sending unit is suitable for me,it is not like switch on/off. I did not know the oil pressure sending unit was used on the roadstar too. I only know a door opening handle!Some parts were installed on both S30/roadstar,this is interesting. I am wondering that the sending unit which many people switched from originaly equipped on L24. Is this it?I attached 2 pictures.First,an oil pressure sending unit on L24 with a single carb.Second,an oil pressure sending unit on L24 with a dual SU carbs. Both pictures were taken from the service manual. 2 weeks ago I went to the NISSAN parts department in Kyoto,I saw two kinds of oil pressure sending unit.The one is 25240-89910,this is a very small unit and it has an exactly same shape as seen in the first picture"L24 with a single carb"Is this small unit the one which many people switched?.Another one is 25070-89910,this is what I bought which has same shape as seen in the second picture"L24 with dual SU carbs" The second one 25070-89910 is the one which I bought as you can see in my web site, I bought it aprox.$50 U.S. 26th-Z,the number for the distributer cap is same in the Nov 1969 catalog.22162-E3001 was not changed from first issued Nov 1969,first rev. Mar 1970,second rev. Jun 1970.I did checked them. kats

Alan,thank you for the photo,I am very interested for PS30-00009.You have many old japanese magazine than me,so please keep looking this thread and help to identify the early story of S30. Thank you 240ZX,yours has holes in the middle?Only "29" HLS30s between yours and mine,so I must have middle one?But I checked today,mine has holes at the end of plate.I must call TETSU,he bought my Z from L.A. and he restored my Z 5 years ago.He should remember he restored the plate which came with my Z or he just bought new one from the factory. I have many many things that I want to post here. kats PS.I attatched this photo,you can see the blue air cleaner and blue/grayish distributer cap,and very unusual fuel pipe with white rubber fuel pipe to the SU carbs.This photo is taken from mid 1970 brochure,but I must say this 240Z is the same car which shows up in the earliest service manual and very early brochures/press release photos.The reasons are described soon. I will check the part number,26th-Z.

Carl,thank you very much for great informations.I really like to hear those kind of information.Now I am trying to think,the story of removing badge is real.Then some questions come up in my mind,when it happened,why and how many HLS30s had got fairlady-Z's badge,very very interesting. Alan,I feel something from your comment,it helps my way of thinking wide and careful.There might be some factor,crossing each other.It could not be tell just one sentence.Should be complicated. This is just my poor thoughts,the fairlady badged HLS30s could be " a present" from Nissan Tokyo.Intentionally,ironically,black humor. 26th-Z,thank you.Yes I remember about rare chrome Z,I forgot to tell you that I also got a "solid/heavy chrome Z" emblem.I can see "R" slightly fading but I am sure this is for Right side of quater panel.I bought it from ebay last year. I think this solid/heavy made emblem could be the earliest(not just say under 500 240Zs,rather under 100?? I do not know).The reason is when I see the differences(changing) in this quater emblem,this emblem is very similer to the prototype emblems which Mr.Matsuo showed me in his sutudio.Unfortunately the prototypes are not of S30s,they are 510,SP/SR311 etc.Yes 26th-Z,Mr.Matsuo told me a prototype emblem is always made by a Hand-made and so that they are solid.By the time a emblem is produced in the factory,it is formed(cut) meat to meet the requirment of cost and weight. Hi,I am soory I am late.I am catching up with these good inputs. Alfadog,I do not know how many books or ads are featuring a photo which came from that photo mision,but in Japan,we(japanese people)saw quite often this photo in some car magazine(see attachted below).This shot was taken from that photo mission day,I believe. When I made an interview to Mr.Osawa and Mr.Uemura(Both test crew in the U.S. & Canada) they showed me "Exactly" this photo,which is original,mono-color, the size is aprox.4X6 inch.Can you tell where they are in this photo?I also attached a photo when I made an interview in 2003.Left;Mr.Osawa/Center;kats/ Right;Mr.Uemura. Marty,in that interview,they told me that the two test vehicles were sent back to japan after the mission.They needed to do lots of work to collect data from the vehicles. kats

Hello, Bryan,I recorded them from a TV,not directly to a computer.I think it is very good too,if recording to the computer directly.But I did not have tools now,mabe someday. By the way,I am curious about the part of video "Mr.K is thinking about something standing at tail gate" in the title of my web page "Photo mission". I have heard and red like many of you about Mr.K's story that he took fairlady-Z emblems off from the very early deriverd 240Z in the U.S. Not happend in this video,because these two Zs did not have any emblems as you see from the video.Seems to me Mr.K is thinking about emblems,the american gentleman(maybe he works at NMC)is telling and explaining about emblems on the tail gate. At that moment,in Oct 1969,the name "Datsun 240Z" was already fixed I think.I will up load some photos which verify my reasons.But I am not sure emblems alredy existed or not at that moment. What I am interested in is,the story of Mr.K's took of emblems is true or not. Thank you, kats

Hello, I have a question about [63140-78500] "Nut- joint retainer" I attached this photo,inside of my Z's right front fender,below the side marker. http://www.geocities.jp/datsunz903/frontfenderclip.html Are these clips(nuts) applied correctly?I am wondering they might be up-side down.I replaced these last year,still they were available from the local Nissan. Thank you,thank you everyone. bpilati,yes the man is wearing blue sweat is Mr.K!I do not know Nissan still keeps the early design sketches.I remember Mr.Matsuo(chief designer of S30)said he could not bring his design sketches when he quit Nissan in 1974.Seems to me he still regrets and has some angry feelings about it. 26th-Z,very good eye sights and very good question,but I am sorry I am not for sure that.I am wondering what parts was replaced after the test run.I think I said before this,the test report said On 20th Dec 1969,a 240Z arrived by air at NMC gardena.This car had some modifications to clear problems of vibration around differential gear,steering kick back,road noise,engine mountings. Mr.Uemura said they brought rear sway bar and tested in that run.They judged it was not needed for normal driving in the U.S. I will post rest of tape."Mrs.Johnnie gable?photo graph mission", "in the car washing service shop" etc.. kats
