Are these chrome strips original
Not too long ago someone had those chrome rocker bottoms to sale, seems like he found an old supply from a closed Nissan dealership. My '77 has the the door guards like the 260 in your picture and I read that was a dealer add on like the chrome mud flaps and louvers I also have. like Z Kars says, more money for the dealership. I just wished they pushed for the undercoating back then.

I'm usually the one that confuses but you got me with this?

1978 280z back fire
Try unplugging the cold start valve? My 240 starts blowing blue when I leave the choke on too long.

spare hold down question
I'm going to make one and glue it on for now. Restoring a spare tire. Who would have thought to be doing that? OCD raises it's ugly head. I'm trying to get my spare of the wheel with motorcycle spoons. Not too easy either.

280zx distributor what do I need and wil my tach work
I went by this Excel spreadsheet and ordered a 1979 280ZX distributor from amazon.com. It was a remanufactured one but like new. You'll have to buy a larger cap and rotor as the one from amazon was just the basic distributor. $100 and I have been running it for three years. One of the best things I've done to my 240. You'll need to get the adapter Phillip shows in his Tech Tip. zcarsource.com or a junkyard. Distributor advance curves S30-S130.xls D6K8-06 is stamped into the body.

Turbo a L24
Doesn't seem to be very popular after a quick google search. The fuel delivery setup and compression ratios... https://www.google.com/search?rlz=1C1BOFA_enUS494US494&q=L24+turbo&oq=L24+turbo&gs_l=psy-ab.3..0j0i7i30k1l2j0i30k1j0i5i30k1l3.17300.22087.0.23544.11.11.0.0.0.0.141.1303.0j11.11.0....0...1.1.64.psy-ab..0.10.1162...35i39k1j0i8i7i30k1j0i7i10i30k1j0i67k1j0i131k1.0.3LLVg0oSciw

spare hold down question
You've jogged my memory, I think? Seems like it did have rubber on the other side but I tore it off. The others I have just have the horizontal bar with the the threaded handle. I'll get you a picture in the morning but there's no rubber under there. The weather has changed and I'm cleaning out my storage building. Finding stuff I forgot all about. Thank you Jim for all your help. I hope you come down next year for zcon in Atlanta. We'll have some good times for sure. If you like motorcycles I think we should spend a day in Birmingham at Barber's museum. It's amazing to see and only a couple hours down I-20. We could rent a passenger van and drink beer, throwing wizz bombs out the windows.

[2017] What Did You Do To/with Your Z Today?
Went for an early morning drive. Killed more bugs than Orkin. Washed it up good to. Nothing (almost) makes me happier than a shiny Z car.

Jai's Status
I believe we can thank the Canadians for that movie? And another favorite of mine is Super Troopers. The thing about Canadian humor to me is it not funny right of the bat but then after 10 or 17 times its funny like Hades. Like Monty Python to a 13 year old, it grows on ya.

You ever seen that movie Best in Show? It's about dog show fanatics and is hilarious. The guy with the hound dog is my favorite.

Overheating after modifications, what am I overlooking?
With the motor off see how easy the fan turns by hand. A good fan clutch should barely if at all make one complete rotation. If it spins easy you may need a new one. $20 at Advance maybe less with a coupon code from retailmenot.com, usually 25 to 30 percent off buying online and pick up at the store. Can't beat a Nissan thermostat like Zed says. Not even those Super Stants.

Extinguisher location?
It fit perfectly in the passenger's side tool bin, the good news. While moving the spare tire tools over to the driver's side I realized there was no lug nut tool, the bad news but I'm glad I found out today instead of on the side of the road with a flat. I'll try some junkyards to see if I can get a short one from a Stanza or some other Nissan with the same lug size. Actually the Rewinds have an adapter for their lugs so I will carry that with me to get the right size. Thanks for all the help! Cliff

'72 console question
Why are there humps on the passenger's side of my console? Is eveybodies like mine or do I have the wrong one? I can't figure out the purpose.
-
Extinguisher location?
I'll see if mine will fit in one of those bins Mike, thanks. AZ-240Z my extinguisher is too big to put in front of the passenger's seat. Tried this morning and the nozzle plus the gauge make it impossible to mount and be out of the way of the slide handle. Mine is a little larger than your's and has a metal nozzle that's pretty long. I would get a smaller one but the one I bought is rechargeable. I'll try and figure out something, screwing it through the vinyl is my last and most probable option.

Info on BCDD - Boost Controlled Deceleration Device
Awe, grocery store runs. Need milk. Dang forgot eggs. French Toast for breakfast. Now lunch. It's hard to wrap my head around salted roads. We use sand. Making homemade ice cream you add salt to keep the ice from melting?
