1972 240Z Manifold Heat Control Thermostat
My eyes are going... I blow it up on my phone and see that's a small nut on a threaded post under all that crud. I'll wire brush that and see if I can break the nut loose.

Did you get to the inside? I can't figure out how to remove the brass part. I can jab a screwdriver into the inlet and feel pretty tight spring that is against that brass end. Maybe I should just donate it to Dr Frunkenstein's layboreatori.

Yeah, look at your carbs rear side to see which you need. I've always thought the pre '72 does not have the coolant passages?

Is This The Correct Antenna Mast For A 1976?
Here's some good pictures of the 280's. The cone tip must be a 240 thing? https://www.ebay.com/itm/DATSUN-280Z-POWER-ANTENNA-WITH-LOWER-MOUNTING-BRACKET-1975-1978/152504804032?hash=item2381fea2c0:g:uL0AAOSwWkJY9QRO

That's it. I've got two also. Bead blasting would make one look new but inop.

The pesky odometer
Please don't tell. I'm hoping the fedz don't read my post. If they do I can go all GOP and deny and lie. I don't recall, client privilege even though your my Dad.

The pesky odometer
Embarrassing story but I'm up front to a fault. Years ago I bought a ZX1100 for cheap. Rode it a year or so and decided to sale it to get my money back. Unhooked the cable at the front tire and chucked it up to a Dremel. Started clicking the miles off. Put it on a higher speed then went upstairs to get a beer most likely, came back and the gauge cluster was fogged over. I ran the the Dremel too fast and it melted the odometer's plastic numbers. Young and dumb but I ended up buying a cluster off a wrecked bike with way less miles anyway. Lesson learned, don't run them back just buy a lower mileage gauge cluster.

New key by code in glovebox
Thanks Zed! I soaked them yesterday but hadn't had a chance to try them yet. I'm painting my rental house, need to get it rented, I'm broke. My parents want me to sell a Z, so I'm working double time to get that house ready. No way I'm selling my investments that I can enjoy driving.

Makes perfect since! So I need to make a one inch putty knife the same as my tool. Thank you.

1972 240Z Manifold Heat Control Thermostat
Are you restoring and want the OE equipment? I ran mine with a bad thermostat unknowingly. Now I have deleted that coolant flow. It doesn't get too cold here though. I have a couple of old ones if you want one. They're always open and flowing. That's why I ditched them, cooler carbs now.

New key by code in glovebox
Is this similar to what you're describing @tzagi1 ? I've got plenty of putty knives and 5 in 1 tools. I used that on my d21 pick up doors and it worked on the xmas trees, never heard them called that but damn good description of those. Thank you for replying

Too early. Hell's freezing over.
Ew, that looks bad. Glad it missed you but feel bad for those it didn't. Wonder when they'll start spending money on things that matter like changing the weather by cloud seeding? Oh wait, we need to go to Mars. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cloud_seeding

New key by code in glovebox
No, unfortunately the only key was a very uncut ignition key that cranks the car and also pulls out going down the road. Good DUI defense throwing them out the window flying down a road. Thank goodness that's not a concern anymore. I know a guy with a hardware and paint store that has a key machine. That's the 1st thing I did was to smooth them like butter, still not working. The passenger's side is the one that almost makes it. Tonight I banged the door and it unlocked but I'd get arrested doing that in public. Pulling those panels or climbing through the hatch are my choices. Climbing through the hatch is good for me, I can reach the doors top pretty easy. I'll do the rod bending after I get the other "top ten" list done. If my female dog was still alive Id have now worries. You couldn't get within five feet of her car/truck without a teeth show. My new boy dog would open the door and crank the car, he's friendly.

Your picture didn't up load. Mine have a upside down cone shaped tip on the end. There's also some info on here about using .130 weed eater cord for replacement of the original plastic drive line.

The odometer pic made me laugh. That's all I can say about that crispy cream 8 ted car.
