  1. I took the OE 4 speed out of my '72 and installed a later 280z 5 speed without issue other than the clutch collar. The 4 speed is shorter so the collars have to match the transmission.
  2. Great looking car! I had one similar, #110 paint code with white interior.
  3. Looks like a R180 to me but it's hard to tell. My R180 with a 5 speed does excellent on the highway.
  4. That F54 is a popular upgrade for "restomod" I think they call it. Here's a good read... http://datsunzgarage.com/engine/
  5. The original '72 240Z's R180 is smaller and more of a square shape. Hope this helps.
  6. You gotta click the trash can or it will stay. Sorry to be confusing but it's past my bedtime.
  7. Backspaced and it's gone. Now I'll click the trashcan...
  8. That's what it is. When you "click to chose file" and it uploads then you click the "+" to add it to your post. Go back and EDIT, backspace until its gone then scroll down and click the trash can in the uploaded photo. When I didn't send the uploaded pic to trash it showed up again.
  9. I'm on google now, no app. Lets see if if I can delete a photo... Yep! Edit, then backspace then click the trash can in the uploaded photo and it's gone.
  10. The oil rings are tricky to align and space the gaps. Thank goodness I bought the Tom Monroe book, How to Rebuild the L motor. Glad you got everything, it's a Christmas Miracle! Gives me that warm and fuzzy feeling...no wait that's the eggnog.
  11. I knew you had mentioned it but didn't read back far enough. I caught S30's post and went from there. That's what happens when you don't keep up. Glad it came back around and was resolved. Early Christmas present I'd say. I love this forum!
  12. Yeah, like Datsun did with the ZX.
  13. They're slowing down older versions to save the battery's life span.

  15. You're talking about the one by the yellow tape, right? http://atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/electricalconnections/index.html
  16. Try using the internet on your phone, not the app, might work better?
  17. This guy can fix it. He's a member on here too. @Zs-ondabrain https://www.datsun-240z-upgrades.net/ Click on "services"
  18. I've always used it there, after reading steel into aluminum needs it. Read applications, automobiles https://www.permatex.com/products/lubricants/specialty-lubricants-anti-seize/permatex-anti-seize-lubricant-2/ Automobile Suggested Applications: For easy removal of spark plugs, cylinder head and exhaust head bolts; apply to anchor pins on brake assemblies, u-bolts and spring bolts, hinges, gears, chain, sprockets and rollers.
  19. Okay now I know. It's because it's an automatic car. Starting in 9/74 you could get an HLS30 (280Z, 1975) or an RLS30 (260Z, 1975 By FMVSS/DOT, but 1974 by EPA) From This post on hybridz... http://forums.hybridz.org/topic/114087-vin-help-hls30-99336/?do=findComment&comment=1069700
  20. Just being curious here, pay me know mind BUT wouldn't a 9/'74 be considered a 1975? My 9''76 is titled a 1977. I understand it has carbs, that's why I'm stumped. Beautiful car no matter what year it is.
  21. A remote starter, trigger style is good for the $15 cost. Helps setting the valves and beat the heck out of using a 27mm socket and pull bar on the crank nose. Another thing that I liked because I live in an extremely humid armpit state is gun safe dehumidifier. My black vinyl interior will get small amount of mold spots until i bought one of those. A good car cover is a must in my opinion. These old cars don't like water so the longer you/he can keep a nice shine without washing the better. Enjoy! Oj yeah, a set of those new heavy plastic ramps for oil changes and other under car work. You can get them cheap at a chain auto parts store and they fit together for minimum storage space.
  22. There you go! $2,650? for a nice and shiny motor. I'd do it in a heartbeat if I needed a good motor and like new carbs. You're not going to save much money doing it yourself and Diseazed's stuff is top shelf. Trigger needs pulling! The best Christmas presents are the ones you buy for yourself. Especially with any money you get from Santa.
  23. The wetter the better, Wet Willie! One things this thread has proven, we're as crazy about music as we are our cars. Thanks for introducing me to some bands I'd not listened to until now. One of my all time favorite questions that has no right or wrong but says a lot about a person, Elvis or the Beatles? I know my choice...
  24. The Alberts, King and Collins.
