  1. I liberated this decal from a broken 240Z glove box door. It's not perfect but it might be better than the one you have. I'll even pick up the cost of the stamp (U.S. destination only). Jim
  2. Oh boy - a Nikki!!! Nice find. The top plate on yours has more detail than the one in 26th's pic - a stamped # and two raised bosses.
  3. Looks a bit like as battery hold-down clamp. If the early cars had the same rectangular frame as my car, this probably isn't Datsun or at least not 240Z.
  4. Bruce - reach out to Mike W on this forum (Mike Wodopian), he's the event chairman or coordinator. Mike is one of our three Gold Cup winners from Memphis.
  5. My loop-style carpet and seat covers came from Seatz, at the time they were still selling direct but no more. I'm not sure who is carrying their products now but a contact to them might provide that info. The "Where to Buy" button on their website has no content. http://www.seatzmfg.com/seatz/index.htm
  6. That's exactly how the MSA adapter works for the 240's.
  7. That's a slick upgrade to your 280Z - nicely done and well documented. This plug-n-play upgrade has been available for 240Z's for a few years. I have it installed and it works great. Unfortunately, wiring design changes in the later models limit its fitting to the early cars. http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/classic10d15/12-4654
  8. The website is up and the full event schedule is posted: http://zcon2017.org/ The judged car show is at Lake Travis about 30 miles NW of the convention hotel - Airport Hilton. The track day is at a site about 30 miles south of Austin. The grand finale day for AX, People's Choice show, parade laps, and the awards dinner is at COTA, just a couple of miles from the hotel.
  9. You're memory is right on track - those are still the awards. The pics of the slides I saw simply said "Gold Winner" with no clarification. One appeared to be a S30, the other a Z32.
  10. Can someone PLEASE get some info posted on the award winners? Pretty please!!! ZCCA carefully took pictures of each and every award winner at Memphis but not a single picture or list of awardees has made its way to the website a year later. In looking over some various Toronto posts on FB, I saw pics of the slideshow of awards and it looks like there were two Gold winners - but again no details forthcoming.
  11. I've used Texas Precision Plating in nearby Garland TX. Find them here: http://www.texasprecision.net/
  12. I'd say your right on target with a combination effect. When a full poly kit is installed on the front end, all of the prior compliance (shock absorption) provided by the rubber bushings goes away. Apart from the springs and shocks, road shock that is no longer absorbed ends up being transmitted. In the case of steering, poly bushings at the steering rack and in the coupler will guarantee that any lateral pressure or one-side impacts (i.e. a bump) on the tires will get transmitted directly to the steering wheel and the driver's hands. If you are able to drive only on super smooth surfaces, none of this matters. The reality of our common street and highway surfaces says that each wheel is constantly getting separate impacts that try to move the steering one way or the other. Just my $0.05 worth and looking for change.
  13. That's a "yes" to both. Looking really good!
  14. Some additional required Texas beverages - and you have to try each and every one of them!
  15. A post I saw on FB said the dates are June 20-24. We'll have to get our honorary host Mike W to confirm or deny.
  16. Here they are on eBay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Datsun-240Z-Taillight-Trim-1969-1973-/222206823249?hash=item33bc8f0b51:g:fTgAAMXQVT9Sqyf3&vxp=mtr
  17. You've hit upon the two options. The neatest way to carefully remove the contacts from the plug and pass the wires thru the grommet, then reassemble the plug. Each contact has a small barb holding it in place that must be pushed down to back the contact out of the plug. A very small jewelry screwdriver or knife point is a good tool. Be sure to write down what color wire goes to each position in the plug before you start. Be sure each barb is raised before you reinsert the contacts so they lock back in place.
  18. Plus one more. Say hello to Janet for us - saw her in one of the pics.
  19. Dark places? I'll show you mine? Sounding a bit kinky.
  20. Also not a drop! Proximity to the DC makes for quick response but inventory control is strictly handled by Courtesy.
  21. Welcome! You're off to a great start with pics on your first post - we're all voyeurs and love to gawk at every project that comes along. Keep the CFO happy as the expenses roll in - its all in the spirit of family togetherness.
  22. Let's all hope that Mr. and Mrs. Blue (the lovely Janet) are still smiling like this when they eventually pull into Toronto. Aiiyeee - 1,800km!!!
  23. All done, Cliff's newspaper leak check is in progress. Courtesy (10 min. from my house) had the parts in stock. Check out the list price on that shaft seal . The young parts desk guy was funny - "Uh oh, my system doesn't go that far back." Me: "That's why you need David or Butch." Parts guy: "Yeah, let me get this info to Butch in the back". Heaven help us all if Butch and David don't train these new guys on how to look up parts in the old catalog. Cliff - your extract and install tips were spot on! My machinist's scribe has a right-angle point and was perfect for pulling out the old seal. A long 11mm socket was the perfect install tool. A bit of anti-seize allowed everything to slip right into place. Thanks again to you both for great assistance. Jim
  24. My credit card issuer - Citibank, said they would charge a 3% transaction fee and use the daily official exchange rates as published in the Wall Street Journal. Similarly, my credit union is part of an ATM network with participating devices in Toronto. As long as I use those devices I would see the same terms as my credit card, but no non-network ATM fees. Since I do not use a debit card, I didn't get any info on that process.
  25. After a few drinks, all Jims will look alike and you'll fit right in. You DO know I'm dying as I keep up with this thread!
