Fog Lamps
When I put the "El Cheapo" driving lights on my Z, I did as suggested by TomoHawk put a relay into the driving light circuit to put less stress on the overall circuitry of the car.

Fuel Pump Check Valve Alternatives
Captain, sorry for the late reply,I got involved with a furniture finishing project(wife's idea) but the car ran great for 1 day and back to stumbling under load, but that's another story. The Audi fuel line(don't remember which Audi) was to short to reach the damper on the 75 without a major kink in the line, so I just added a 5/16" double barb and about 5" of fuel line to make a loop with no kinks to the damper. The Audi fuel line came from the engine bay if that helps for future reference. Worked out well with no leaks under pressure and pressure stays up for longer than before I did the job. Also just as an FYI, haven't had any hot start issues, but its not been above 70° up here.

Strange whirring noise from engine...
Just another shot in the dark, could it be a lash pad that has slipped and stuck so the cam hits it?

madkaw, PM sent. Thanks. Mike

STILL having issues!!!
Euro, I'll probably just stick with the 79 dizzy and wire in the GM module. The dizzy is so tight in the holder that to remove it I have to undo the bolts that hold it to the block. You're right, PITA.

STILL having issues!!!
Thanks Zed. I'll have to dig thru my boxes of Z stuff and find the old dizzy. What can I use for a heat sink and being real electrical savvy, how much of the module has to be covered by it? Mike

STILL having issues!!!
Just a quick question, can I mount a GM module into the old 75 dizzy instead of externally?

STILL having issues!!!
site, I've got a new Accel coil on this b***h. Zed, I've thought it might be the ignition module, so' I'll gladly spend the $25 for the GM HEI and give it a try. Up where I live there is only one other Z around and I've only seen it once last year. There are a few more in Colorado Springs, but no one I know. I've got an old(75) dizzy, but I'd have to hook up the old ignition module, ballast resistor etc., or could I use the old dizzy with GM HEI?

STILL having issues!!!
This is about the 80th time I've posted with the same problem on this car its driving me stone crazy. Problem: Stumbles and bucks above 4K under load. Runs great up to 3800. Occasional miss at idle. It ran great with very very slight stumble above 5200RPM after re-doing the fuel pump. Whats been done: I've run all the checks and tests suggested by Zed Head, Fastwoman and others, kudo's to all for their help. Fuel pump rebuilt(new O rings and check valve) makes 37-38psi at idle, drops to around 30 under load, new injectors, new fuel line clamps, new fuel lines, new pressure regulator. No rust in the lines or at the pump. AFM calibrated per Blue at Atlantic Z. TPS adjusted. New CTS and Thermotine, checked OK per EFI Bible, new spark plugs and wires, new rotor and dizzy cap, timing at 10°. Has a 79 dizzy and ignition module. Vacuum is at 14.5", compression average 120 (this is at 9000'). New rubber boots on the intake. Spark plugs are black, tailpipe has lots of black soot, exhaust smells a little like fuel. Gas mileage is about 15mpg. You can see the miss at idle on the vacuum gauge( gauge is steady then drops about 1/2" then back to steady), doesn't happen with every engine cycle just occasionally. My guess is ignition but at this point I don't really have any good guess's.

Fuel Pump Check Valve Alternatives
I replaced the check valve with the 539 one and because the fuel line from the Audi was to short had to add an extension, also replaced the O rings in the pump and now pressure stays up for about an hour or so after shut down. Also all my stumbling under load went away, engine rev's to 5500 with no issues. Thanks for all the help. Mike

Just an FYI
I got a message about the Heartbleed virus and on the Norton site there is a tool to check websites by their URL. When I put in the club URL it came back as vulnerable to the virus.

Starter troubles
One other thing you may consider is to put one of the 4 post relays into the stater circuit, it made all of my starting issues go away.

Just an FYI
I just got notice from Norton that the club site is vulnerable to the HeartBleed virus and personal information may be available. Any of the site moderators know about this?

Looking to Purchase a 77' 280z With a V8
Just my 2¢, if you really want a Z car, look for one that is basically stock but needs some help. It'll cost you less up front and you spend some time learning new skills and end up with a nice ride that'll hopefully be worth more in the end. Bear in mind that it is seldom that you'll get the $ out a Z what you have in it, but the fun and new skills way more than make it up. Lots of nice Z's out there for 5K or less.

HellFire Status & release date annouced
Tomo, sorry if I offended, I wasn't saying fatherhood was not a great and wonderful thing, it is, we have 5 children, 4 boys and then my daughter. While at times it was trying and tiring the memories are awesome. We are all closer today than ever. Mike

Dash Repair Process/Pictures
I've been watching this thread for a long time and would like to do my dash. Currently it has a full dash cap that I've tried multiple methods to remove(dash is still in the car), I've let it sit outside in the sun, tried a heat gun(don't do this) tried prying and pulling and no luck so far it appears that when the cap was put on, it was slavered with glue on the top but not much on the bottom end. Any suggestions, besides take the dash out and just rip it off?

EFI fuel pump ?
Here is a pic of the plugs I just took out after 50 mi. trip. They had been removed and cleaned up with a brass brush prior to the trip. So along with everything else being considered I am beginning to believe Fastwoman is right this thing is running very lean, next up I'll put in a pot to see what happens. #'s 1,2 and 4 look almost about right.
