It is possible that this is a half shaft problem, it also could be a bearing issue in both units. That is excessive heat for sure. it could be a problem with the ring and pinon being too tight too. But since this repeated, I have to think that it is a serious cooling problem, and an R200 while it might help some, is not the silver bullet. I would look at your suspension geometry, half shafts, Rear "A" Arms and differential mounts. I would run a temp gauge and drive the car around with a new differential and see where you stand. Clearly something is binding and generating a lot of heat.

I agree with Phillip, try the fluid first, but...for an endurance race you are going to use up any oil if your running really hot temps. The other thing is to install a diff temp gauge, you'll know right where you are and be able to make corrections based on temp. Ron

I am surprised you are having trouble with an open differential, as they do not generate as much heat as a clutch style LSD. What did the fluid look like that you took out of the Differentials you were running? Tilton makes a Differential pump that will work. You'll need a small radiator and fan with the pump.

R-180's will work fine, but will need cooling, and can't handle such a long time in the car without aux cooling. I run redline Heavy Duty Shock Proof, and I would run a differential cooler. This will increase the amount of fluid you run in the diff, and keep it at a reasonable temp. There is also a finned cover available for a Subaru that will help as well...but the pump and cooler is the best way to go. Are you running an LSD? what are you running for tires? What track configuration are you running? What gear ratio in the R-180?

I think there will be a good chance that a few of us from the West Coast will be there.
  6. the #3 BRE car is featured in part of the video I took at Road Atlanta.
  7. You will probably have to source these directly from Japan.
  8. Great to meet you guys too, what a stunning Z! really fantastic job! It was a pleasure to meet you guys too. I hope you can make it out to the west coast some day Ron
  9. Grantf, this will help you out: http://classicmotorsports.net/events/mitty-2010/
  10. Hi guys, here is a unique perspective from the Mitty with in car video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DldMhPyfXsk For more details keep your eyes on my blog site, www.rcnetworksracing.com Ron
  11. Thanks Carl, Well said, I think we all had issues to some degree. It was well worth the trip across the country for a special glimpse into a piece of history. I hope we have the chance to do that again some day. As Road Atlanta was important for the BRE Z winning the national championship there twice, so was Laguna Seca for the BRE 510. Perhaps there will be a chance to repeat this in Monterey some day. As for the people. I was humbled by the folks that came from all over the country and Canada. We made many new friends and had a great time. Like Carl, I would have liked to spend more time with everyone. I will post photos and video as soon as my car returns to California (with my video camera). JMark took many great photos too! Thanks again! Ron
  12. A Pleasure to meet all of you guys, thank you for your hospitality! We had such a great time, I can't even believe it is over....for me this was my Dream Garage. Nine BRE cars together, four or five out on the track....just amazing. I will post Video and photos as soon as I can. Can't wait to drive Road Atlanta again!! Ron
  13. The BRE Reunion was good fun. Lots of eye candy and it is really great to see so many BRE cars together at the same time. Everyone has been so great....many new friends and fans of the cars. looking forward to a little track time, and hopefully some good weather over the weekend. R
  14. We have made it to Atlanta!! Dinner with Peter and Gayle tonight! Got the lay of the land today. This is going to be a first class event. Classic Motorsports has done a fantastic job!! R
  15. I just thought it was odd to have a Z car show within driving distance of the Mitty, I know it is not around the corner...but hey, it's not THAT far away.... Deseazd, I am a seasoned professional....and ready to have a great time in Braselton!! R
  16. How come you guys aren't going to the Mitty!?!?!?
  17. Sell your Z and buy a pro fuel drag car.... Our roads are not developed for 200Mph, not to mention all the safety issues. IF you are going to do this, this is how it is done, SAFELY.
  18. Well after spending countless hours polishing my Magnesium LeMans wheels today for the Mitty, I sure wish they were aluminum.... Ron
  19. We are getting the magnesium wheels polished (by hand) and cleaning up the car for the Mitty... We will be ready for the transport truck and looking forward to the event! Best, Ron
  20. Mike it will be great to meet you too.... I know what you are saying about the cars all riding together, but this is a very reputable company that does this for NISSAN. I think in this case we will be all set. I have been working on my BRE 240Z and should have it wrapped up and ready for the Mitty in the next few days. She is going to be dressed up special for the Mitty. I am looking forward to a great time, and some awesome memories!! Ron
  21. I dont know Adam's plans, and I am sure Les does not know for sure. I would suspect that he would be there, but no Guarantees. I do know a couple of the cars going on the transport with my car. They include the BRE 46 510, my BRE Tribute 240Z, Adam's lightweight roadster or #44 BRE roadster, Les's BRE 510 baja car + one or two more??? I know Tony well, and he raced with NPTI the California Cooler Nissan GTP car...His Gurney Eagle is really cool! Of course all the BRE guys will be great to have on hand too, and the stories will be epic!
  22. I spoke to John about this a couple of months ago, he will be driving his 510 at the event. So I will be driving my Z. I think it will be unbelieveable to see all these cars out on the track at the same time. We are expecting to put all the cars on the track, that run and do a few laps. To see the two BRE roadracing Z's and offroad Z on the track, with several original 510s and a roadster or two is worth the price of admission...
  23. Georgia Moonshine!?
