Clutch bleeding
Gotchya. I understood what you said no clarification needed. I used a three foot rubber hose so I had no issues at all from the bottom. Jan

Clutch bleeding
I ended up doing it both ways. From the bottom I fed the fluid up to the master until it was about to over fill. Pressed the pedal a few times and opened the bleeder screw to make sure I had fluid. A tiny bit of air popped out. It seems that you end up feeding air into the system but it's rather easy to bleed out. Thanks for the help Jan

Interesting sound on decel.
Ah dam no I did not. I'm going to pull the drum off when I get back from my family visit. But wouldn't the parking brake hold the wheel constantly and not just at one section of the wheel? Same with the shoe? Jan

Interesting sound on decel.
Hey guys I'm leaving my Z in storage for three weeks as I go visit family in Florida. A few days ago I noticed a rather interesting sound while decelerating, at speeds under 10mph. (I'm guessing like 2-5). The best way I can describe it is it literally sounds like a wobble sound coming from the rear passenger's side. For investigation purposes I lifted the rear of the car off the ground. (placed the jack under the pumpkin) and span the wheels to see what I would find. Found that the rear passenger's side tire will slow to a stop about 3/4 of the way around. (so like 270 degrees). I don't know if it's the brakes rubbing or maybe a bad bearing (I didn't really have time to investigate more). Does anyone have an idea? Noticed the topic about rear brakes before posting this, is that a possibility? Jan

Jdm exhaust muffler
I would love to add that to my 280z. it would really do wonders to open the engine up a bit. Where'd you get that mate? Jan

weatherstripping and such
Hello all This past evening I was forced to drive through rain. No bummer I thought it hasn't rained in Tucson in months. Well come to find that both my front and rear glass have magically sprung a leak. Two questions. 1. Does anyone know where one may acquire the window seal for the front and rear windows? 2. How hard is/are they to do and can I somehow save the chrome trim? Jan

Jared's Selling His Build
As the old saying goes "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" and that goes for cars more than anything. If someone wants that Z then they'll happily pay even the most ridiculous amount for it. Its a rather nice car though, if I had the cash and was lacking a Z I would more than likely make a bid on it. Jan

Clutch bleeding
Hey guys. In the past couple of months I've noticed that I'm loosing fluid from the clutch. I haven't yet identified where it's leaking from but I'm leaning on the slave as for what I've been told the master tends to leak into the car. (on the floor). Anyhow, this afternoon I checked the fluid and I'm out almost completely. There's a small amount the keeps the clutch working but its hard to shift in the Z now. So I'm planning on bleeding the system as I'm worried if I add fluid I might get air in the system. Did some research and found this interesting video ( .) Anyone every tired bleeding this way? Jan

Sold on LEDs
I'm watching this thread rather intently. Do have a question. From the website you posted it look like the bulbs are straight up replacements. I might of missed this but other than making sure the wire harness is good is there anything else I should do? Jan

Idea for EFI mod
Thanks guys for the explanation here I did forget that Vettes had fuel injection back in the day.

Idea for EFI mod
Fastchick, I agree with nearly everything you've said above except for the fact that you called the F.I system dumb. (I guess Ron said that) You must realize that this was pretty much cutting edge technology back in the 70's. Hell I don't believe the U.S even had F.I cars back then. (I don't know I was born in 87). But it is rather simple, (I guess your term for dumb) as it is just a basic input output device. This has it's ups and downs. (I just came home from the mechanic where someones 99 Eclipse was going to cost 3K to fix computer related things). As the old saying goes, if one is determined enough one can accomplish anything. I'm pretty sure if one tired you could get a modern EFI system to resemble the old school L-Jets. I've done "some" work on the EFI system on the Z but I usually go down to my mechanic if I need something clarified (or pass emissions here in Arizona). Jan

Door handle
Are 620 door handles the same as Z's? Have a friend that apparently has a bucket full of 620 handles... Jan

Door handle
Say what? I sort of understand what your saying but not really. A picture or drawing would great if that can be done. Thanks Jan

Door handle
Well bad news. According to my mechanic (and what I though originally) the door handle is broken on the inside. Basically where the handle connects to the rod it spit. Does anyone sell these anymore? Jan

lowering springs
While this is true many people forget that spring aren't the only thing that can help the handling, like bushings, but that for a different time. For reference, I have a 76' 280z that I bought Eibach springs and Tikico shocks. The front lowered about an inch maybe and the rear pretty much stayed exactly where it was. I also did the bushings when I did this update. Handling was improved at least 50% if not more. I personally don't see the point of lowering it any more than maybe an 1" or 1.5" but I'm not exactly into lowered cars. I lowered mine not because I liked it but I liked the spring rate that the spring gave. I'm sure I could have bought a different brand that didn't lower it but I only had so much I wanted to spend. My 2 cents Jan

Is this too warped to use?
I'm not 100% positive but I do believe that headers come with a warped flange which straightens out when you bolt them to the manifold. Jan

Sending unit O-ring
Hey guys. Wondering if you might know if dealers still sell the fuel tank sending unit o ring for a 280z. I found them online but by the price I think getting them locally would be more advantageous in my part. Thanks Jan

Blower box
Not exactly. Mine says off-vent-bilevel-heat-def. Then there's the second level which is the cold-hot setting and then the last lever controls the blower speed (1-3) Jan

Blower box
Hello guys I know this has been discussed before someplace but I cannot for the life of me find it. This past thanks giving I finally installed the heater in my Z. While working on it I noticed that the blower box (air box, what ever you might call it) has a door like thing that I'm assuming directs where the air is drawn from. (i.e either from the outside or the inside). Where or what is this attached to? There's a cable there but I cannot find what it moves or doesn't move. Thank Jan
-
Heater
Total time for installation was roughly 12 hours. I took my time, as I was in no rush to get it done. The fact that I had to run to the store four times for hoses didn't help either. I'm pretty sure one could accomplish it faster (maybe 4-8 hours) if you really wanted to. Do have a question for you guys. On the back of the blower motor (on the air intake side I guess) there is a giant flap that moves up and down. What controls the cable to this? I cannot for the life of me find it what opens and closes the door. Thanks Jan

Heater
Hey guys I finally did the heater core on the Z. All the interior hoses were purchased at autozone and fit almost perfectly (one needed "some" trimming but it fit great). If anyone needs the part numbers or pictures or help with the install let me know. Jan P.S Oh lord is it nice to have heat when its cold outside. (and yes I know ~30 isn't cold for you individuals up north)

Door handle
Hello all This weekend I finally fixed my heater in the Z. While the replacement was going on I somehow broke the door handle on the Z. What I mean is that when I pull up on the door handle from the outside the handle has nothing attached to it. I figured out that the wire that holds the two parts together (that being the handle and the rod that opens the door) have seperated. Has anyone ever had this issue and how did on fix it? The door opens from the inside fine just not the outside. Jan
