New Logo Needed
I think you have me confused with Silv3r72.. I have the white '73 with the rear valence missing. I like my car a lot but it's not as made by datsun. I have to agree that Silv3r72 has a very nice looking Z. If mine had looked that good I would have probably kept it that way. Bur I started with a swiss cheese. I had to replace the rear fenders, floors frame rails.... you know the story. I'm no body man, and do it yourself it's the only way I could afford it. So it is, what it is. I still like my car. But it's no show piece.

Removing Locking lug nuts
I personally had to do this. In my case I was able to use a socket driven onto the lock. After I remover the lock I had to drive the lock out of the socket. It worked fine otherwise. There are many types of locks and this may not work in every situation.

New Logo Needed
I like the existing logo, but I really do not see how it is really that important. It's the content of the site that counts. The logo is just part of the wrapper, something to let you know you hit the right site... It's fine for me. If a change is needed, perhaps a random selection from the gallery to make it a surprise, give everyone's ride a fair chance to be on the cover.

Fuel Economy
I am still working out the adjustments, so I am sure this will improve. But I get about 14 MPG .. I do however have a problem with the accellerator, it keeps slamming to the floor. I have tried to adjust it, I think it's a driver interface issue.

240Z fiberglass frontend
Do you know how much it weighs.... I am just curious. I am flat now and cannot buy it. But may consider this as a future option.

Which Ignition System do you use?
I run a Mallory dual point with the points. It works fine. I like tinkering and adjusting things, so I like the points. I get a feeling of acmplishment from properly setting the dwell, adjusting valves, and jetting carburators. It's fun to see the performance improvement when things are set correctly. The other stuff works fine, but if I wanted maintenance free I would get a new car.

240Z fiberglass frontend
Is this the same unit sold by JC Whitney??

Rear tire size options?
I was able to run 225/60/14 on previous Z without any problem. To run any bigger I would have had to run flares.

Wondering if this was wrong
I'm not sure about the law where he lives , but in my state the engine used in a car does not affect the smog exemption. Its the age of the car, or how it is regestered.

Fiber optic lighting for your interior or exterior
Sorry not for me... If it don't help the car go down the road. It isn't going on my car.. I even removed the airconditioner.. Too much weight. I did break down and put the radio back in. The lighter the car the less horspower I have to make to be quick.

Cam Specs
Does anyone know how much lift you can run with out modifications to the head, or changing the springs? Or is the stock cam about it. without some other mods.
-
Anti Swaybar
Wouldn't these also fit a '73? is some difference?
-
Bump stick
How much more lift and duration if any, can you run on a E88 head with out changing the springs and making other mods?

Racing - Who does it?
Looks like I have already started down the wrong path with this car. It also sounds like a dual purpose car ie street and track may not be too practical.. For now I will autocross, maybe I will win a lotery or something.. Sure .... Thanks for the info.

Racing - Who does it?
What about engine mods I have added a few parts, do I have to go back to the SU's . I guess I should look it up. any way $200.00 looks big today. So I guess I am still waiting. Something to think about though.

Racing - Who does it?
If autocrossing counts as any kind of track I have done both. otherwise only street racing. I will say that for the most part my street experiance has been for my own enjoyment, meaning one car and myself against the environment. I try to refine my driving skills. I do not consider drag racing to be real racing. Not that I havn't had a few in my time. But anyone can hold down the accellerator. It takes l little more skill to properly negotiate corners. I would love to get into SCCA racing but am not sure I can afford it. I am afraid the cost would be many thousand's and that is too much for me.

Embarrassed at the traffic light HELP
In most places the cops will say "booting it at the light" is racing if there is more than one car involved. before you reach the limit there might be some question. at twice the limit, not much. The key pooint is more than one vehicle. If you are all alone, then your just speeding.

Embarrassed at the traffic light HELP
Don't know about the New bosch.... I have used the older ones with one one electrode.. They are OK. I have heard plenty people say they stink too. I am currently using platinum autolites. they seem ok also. I do believe that NGK makes a good plug but some of these guys think you cant make the car run without them. I just couldn't find them locally, so no big deal. I'll use something else. Car seems to run OK , but what do I know? I can say when I first changed from champion to the older style of Bosche I noticed a definate improvement in the midrange. The Champions must have been misfiring under load. I have not run Champions in years. But you know what??? I'll bet some one out there thinks they are the best too. Who knows.

Header Question, please advise
I could not find any used headers when i bought mine... I ended up buying the Motorsport 6-2-1 headers and 2.5" exhaust system to go with it. The headers were a bit expensive, about $340.00 or so with shipping, but its one of the best headers I have seen as far as solid is concerned. It fit very well also (except for the collector which didn't). It sounds very good and probably helped the performance some but I am not sure how much since I made several changes at the same time.

Rpm Issue
Well I recieved and installed the 30mm chokes for my webers today. Boy howdy did that do the trick. I still ahve some tunning to do but the car pulls very hard right thru 6000 and keeps pulling hard well beyond. I have not pushed it to 7000 yet but close, I am sure it will go there if asked. I think I know why the small chokes were in there now. When I spoke to Mike at pierce manifolds, he said that if I had the webers with two progression holes there would be a flat spot when taking off as the throttles left the last hole. I never noticed this with the 26mm chokes. It is not a real problem but i noticed it tonight. Come to think of it my last set of webers had it too. Well it's amazing what 4mm can do the the way these carburators work. Thanks for all the advice .

Embarrassed at the traffic light HELP
The best Ive been to is around 165mph... But not in a Z. I had this really cool $300.00 300HP '64 Baracuda (not stock) that had very long legs. Yep those were the days 18 years old three bald tires and 160= mph. Wonder I ever got to twenty let alone 47. But what a rush. Things start to tunnel out around the edges about that speed, 200= must be a total mind bender. But I digress into too much fun attitude again. Just remember be boring....be boring... be boring.... Ahhhh there thats better. Valium anyone hahahahah. bye

Embarrassed at the traffic light HELP
Dead is still dead, just don't take anyone else with you. As for me I would much rather be on the track, but I cannot afford to cross all of the T's and meet all of the requirements to get there. I would love to be bumper to bumper and fender to fender at 180+. Bring on all those big names, Rick Meers, Mario , whoever.... It would be a dream come true to match skills with them. Lets race and may the fastet win. But I may not ever do it who knows. for now it's just more wishing for an ureachable track. Now I've depressed myself, damn.

Embarrassed at the traffic light HELP
So if you get weak and give in to the urge to press the accelerator pedal to the floor, use some discression when and where you do it , and be very careful. and shame on you if you screw up.
