Bad noise comming from valve cover.
I agree with olzed. The "plastic" looks quite thin, if it's there at all.

Vapor lock year two, the good fight is back on.
Amazingly, 721 never had a vapor lock issue with either the SUs or Mikunis. I had removed the mechanical pump and installed a Stewart Warner "thumper" pump years ago (40). I had the fuel lines routed adjacent to the original lines, up the firewall, over to the center of the car, then forward to a fuel block mounted with the intake/exhaust studs then to the carbs. Pressure was regulated at the pump at just below 6psi. No return line was used. Vapor lock is a varying mystery, isn't it?

rocker arms fell off
It would probably be cost-comparable to a fresh cam.

My new Z has attractive carbs and manifold, so I'll pass on your kind offer. Thanks for thinking of me.

Wheels ???
I ran Koenig Rewinds, 16x7 with zero fitment issues on 721. It was lowered two inches, too.

Oh, no! What is the cylinder wall thickness there?

1973 240z build, need help
I cannot reiterate enough the wise counsel you just received. Take one issue at a time, fix it, but plan for others. Do not even THINK about trying to do everything at once. Get it running and legal to drive first. Then begin the other projects you've been planning. We all wish you the best of luck!

Engine knock!!!
Is the "knock" more of a ticking sound or more gutteral?

what is this thing for?
Put that back! That is the disgronificator. The planet will dissolve if you drive the car without it!

Stock Speakers - Just One Of Them?
No. The only speaker in the early Zs was on the driver side, rear. Both sides were perf'd, though.

Wow? 700 original miles [Merged thread]
From the looks of the car, it's likely it's not legit.

Wow? 700 original miles [Merged thread]
Yes, on second look it appears it may be 100,714 miles. I have those same jinky mirrors on my '71. Hate 'em.

Crank sprocket stay on dimple?
It's been quite a while (40+ years) since I did this, but I think I recall the procedure as 1) get the #1 piston to TDC; 2) place the bright link on the crank dimple; 3) rotate the cam/sprocket to allow the second bright link (42 links from the crank dimple) to fit on the cam sprocket at its dimple; 4) insert the cam sprocket on the camshaft by rotating the cam. You'll need to have released the tensioner pressure prior to doing this and to have no valve springs in place. Did I forget anything materially?

Ac clutch won't engauge what am I missing?
I had the same issue. A connector on the t-stat knob had loosened, hence no power connection. Check all your connections.
