  1. I think the PO ( a "z car restoration specialist") used heater hose, so what I put on in 2006 was fuel-proof hose from NAPA.
  2. Isn't the local police "cracking down" on speeders? I even read (I think it was here) that they were pulling over just about all the cycles... thxZ
  3. I was going to mention that when I got my car, the hose on the valve cover was a plain hose. I can't think of a reason to fit one in, either.
  4. Thanks. Those muscle-brain guys are peculiar, anyway. How would they know what's right on my car? One guy told me my carburetor was missing! (It's sopposed to be on top, between those two cylinder heads, and half your spark plug wires are missing...) I don't know if he noticed that my hood opened up on the wrong end. thxZ
  5. Maybe I'll just bondo the gap closed :lick: then grind a very precise 2mm cap with a mototool? (j/k) The only other thing I can think of would be to raise the door just a hair. thxZ
  6. Oops, my bad, as they say. I didn't see the rules for 'Quick four' and 'Bracket classes' which allow all the usual engines. The 4 cyl. only class was for front-wheel drive imports.
  7. I read about this on another Z car related website: The only problem is that I don't think your Z car would qualify. But that's OK with me because my Datsun isn't an "Import!" http://www.importfaceoff.net/ thxZ
  8. I feel for that guy. Also, I have a friend whos name is FORD (or doesn't most everyone?), should he quit being a machinist or change his name?
  9. I have noticed that the door gap on S30 cars isn't exactly even, or the same all the way around. The front & rear gaps are, or can be, the same ( about 3mm) but the gap at the top-front corner ( where the mirror is) seems to be noticeably bigger. Is that correct? I have had a few musclecar guys tell me I need to adjust the door gaps, but after I told them what I have is normal, I get some crazy looks, and show judges (at non-z car shows) say the same, and since you can't tell the judges what's what, so I get hammered point-wise. I can get a picture. thxZ
  10. I have my motor out & apart right now. I want to give itto a restoration guy for new brushes & such. Do you think it might be possible to just swap the motor can & armature for a newer one?
  11. I once met Mr. Fujiwara of Fuji Heavy Industries. I don't suppose he or Fuji Heavy Industry is in there somewhere too? thxZ
  12. Alan, I did exactly get what bob and moompup were talking about.
  13. Talk about name-changes... Shall we also talk about John (Cougar) Mellencamp? Or Prince Rogers Nelson?
  14. Do you mean like fill in the blank? D__TS__N :paranoid:
  15. I got ya, moonpup, I put a card in the windows that says in big letts, "1978 Datsun 280 Zed" and people will STILL ask me what kind of car it is! But then again, one guy yesterday called it "a rare King Cobra" whatever that is; I think he was comparing it to the Mustang II.
  16. Try one from ground level!
  17. Last summer I overheard one kid ask his friend to read the name of the car, because "you know I can't read" which is a very sad thing in this country.
  18. What kind of money are you going to put into this? 5 Gs? 8Gs? (If you don't mind sharing) thxZ
  19. Micheal (mgood) - I was looking at the photos on your website, and I noticed that some of the special ones on the front quarter shots were done with a wide lens? The article on the musclemagazine website tells you that those kinds of photos are undesireable. Did you do that on purpose?
  20. I used to buy 35mm film in 100 foot rolls, in different ASAs, and reload the cans self. You save a lot that way. But the thing that makes me feel like film is going out is the photo printers you can get cheaply. You just stick the memory card from your digital camera in there, and it runs off the prints. How's tha for "One Hour Photo" service? thxZ
  21. I was browsing eBay, and I saw an auction for rubber plugs that go on the hood? It says "These are located 2 on the top part of the hood and 2 on the lower part of the hood" I thought that those holes along the top were supposed to be open, no? thxZ
  22. Don't forget the many of us ( AFAICT) are using digital cameras. I still use 35mm and 120 film sometimes tho.
  23. Will, I haven't had much trouble with digitals being able to stop the action, like on your spinning wheel, but it's the other moving things that were oroblems, like trying to catch the finish line action at a Pinewood car derby. After many tries, I noticed that you can't stop the action exactly at the finish line, so panning the camera with the cars helped, and then you get a blurred background with still cars.
  24. The rocker cover for the 280Z has some baffles to keep the liquids in, so the hose doesnt need anything inside.
  25. Good points, Carl, It's just that (some people) think that their $1200 fancy digital camera (DSLR or otherwise) will have some kind of psychic ability to fix the photo for them, when all they need to do is to take a step to the side (to hide a tree, pole or shadow) or to step back, or maybe even get a ladder or get closer to the ground to get a really good photo. Fancy cameras only allow you to make better use of what you already can do. .... And then there's the guy or girl ( I see this constantly) at the car show who's taking photos with a camera phone... I really hope that these people don't go home to show off their 'photographs.' Again, thanks to Chris (26th) for bringing up this topic at the perfect time.
