  1. Steve, Doc is the one building my P79 head and also my E31. He's a trip......I don't know if you've met him, but if you haven't, it worth a trip! I'll go with you if you come through Richmond. He said I should use the 240mm clutch with the 28. I'm hooking it up to the 240Z 4 speed (is it OK to use that fork and TO with the 240mm clutch?) Just having a ball building all these combos and will let you know what the dynos and times are like after the mods. John Morton did pretty good with the 2400 didn't he? Guy
  2. Steve The reason I was asking is because I too am building an L24 and an L28. The L 24 will be bored 40 over with a E31 head. Isky is carving me a stage II cam. We are not shaving any thing off of the head but are putting stainless steel swirl valves and stock valve springs. We're doing this to keep numbers matching. We're also building an extensively modified F54 with the shaved(.080) P79 head. Everyone needs 2 engines for the same car! Question.....What do you think the 24 will be putting out at the crank? Also.....the L28 will be putting out over 200 H.P. so I bought a 240mm flywheel. Will the new clutch require different fork and TO bearing to work with the flywheel?
  3. Red dog What else is Rebello doing besides stroking the 2400 to get it to 220 H.P.? How about the head......what mods are they proposing (cam etc.). Guy
  4. The Datsun was at some point and time hit in the front left. The perfect front clip will be used to make a perfect mend. The bucket of nuts was found in the vent pocket when we cut the section open for repair. There is one angry squirrel waiting for the return of the '71. We'll keep you posted. Guy
  5. Yes.........That includes shipping. Guy
  6. They have already set me up with a discount. They are wearing the numbers off of my Visa! Just talked with Fred at Pence Nissan. He ordered them from California. List $69.00 ......my cost $55.00. Thanks again for your help Will. Guy
  7. Thanks Will.......I'll call 'em in the morning. Guy
  8. Anyone know where I can buy flat top (standard 86MM ) cast pistons for my 1983 280zx engine? The Nissan part # is 12010-p7912 Guy
  9. I recently purchased a 240mm flywheel from the Z Barn. I plan to lighten to 18 lb. and install in my 71 Z with an F54 2800 block and the original Datsun 4 speed. Will everything bolt right up with the 240 Z throwout bearing and clutch fork when I install the new clutch. What brand clutch is best for this application. I should be running about 200 flywheel h.p. in the new engine. Guy
  10. Hope you're feeling better Bruce. Have you mailed my stuff! Guy
  11. I'd say leave it black. It looks more subtle black!
  12. Very well said Jon! Guy
  13. How's it going Ron? I have both ducted and non ducted from MSA. Both are perfect quality and fit, I like the ducted ones much better for looks and have bought another ducted spook for the 71 restoration. Guy
  14. Carl Yes he came by to see my other Z's when John picked up the Twin Turbo. He has great things to say about you too! Hope to see your cars someday. Guy
  15. Meanie Yuor blue Z is smokin' too! Carl ........I just sold my 93 TT to an old friend of yours.......John Csomay (Richmond Chapter #1) He said I needed to meet you some day, because you are "the man" when it comes to the Z car. Guy
  16. Get the hood from Nissan.......get the BRE air dam from MSA! Ducts or no ducts....they both look great. The green Z is MSA ducted, the white one is no ducts. Guy
  17. Very, very nice work! Great to see the job done right.
  18. Thanks Nissanman........I've always installed the seal after installing the crank. I'll try it your way this time. Your car looks great! I couldn't open your photosite.......send some pics, I'd like to see more. My cars were featured in your www.viczcar.com. Looks like you Aussies have some great cars. Thanks again for your help. GUY
  19. Thanks Mate! I'll position it as you say. Do you install the seal then tighten the cap or do you install the cap and drive in as the factory illustrates?
  20. Carl is absolutely right.....Z's were not perfect from the factory. Just take a "hard righthander" in a stock Z with stock wheels ( That'll cause white knuckles ) Now add a set of Ibachs, Tokicos and some 7" rims and soft tires! That's what Morton and Sharp showed the world at Road Atlanta in the early 70's.
  21. Really? My 28 year old son's dream car is a Datsun 510! And when we go to any auto event with the 240's, it's gen X shooting their camera phones.
  22. Anyone got an easy way to move out the rear seal when there's a slight groove from the old seal on the rear crank journal? I was thinking about cutting a round shim out of good gasket material to shim her out a couple thousands! Guy
  23. The 60's muscle car generation is going to give way to the Xers. Hemi Cudas bring $1,000,000.00. The Xers grew up with the 510 and 240Z.When they get the"Bucks" that's what they will be buying(and rust never sleeps).
  24. I was looking for a front clip at a junk yard in Virginia Beach. After buying the clip, I asked the guy if he had any more Z parts. He reached up in the attic of his outdoor shed and pulled out 2 OEM new door panels. He wanted $100 a piece. I offered $75 and he took it. Miracles still happen! Guy
