  1. Hi Dazza, great find, I would love to get a copy of that colour chart. Could you please email me at nguyenxcuong@hotmail.com Thanks in advance, Cuong Nguyen
  2. Hi all, I'm using a KAAZ 1.5 way LSD centre in my R200. Here is the link for the US site: http://www.kaazusa.com/ kaaz_1.bmp
  3. Hi all, George you are in luck!!! Someone has scanned the Zoom project car (1JZ engine) and here is the link for it: http://www.blkmgk.com/Development/TestWEB.nsf Click on "Pictures" on the left and you can choose an article from the menu.
  4. Hi George, This is "Cuong" here: if you were referring to my car (cyong ??) it has not been featured in Zoom yet! There are plans for the car to be in a few mags down here in OZ (regular photos have been taken by a journalist for the mags) but the car is STILL not yet been finished!!! I'm sure that the news will get around once it hits the press. (I will let you all know for sure!)

I can see that you are all itching to pull the MIG welders out of the corner and attempt a similar thing with you zeds, so here is another one...

Hi all, Ok, so who has been playing Dr. Frankenstein??? For those of you who are into cross-breeding, here are some ideas... (not that I think that they are good looking or anything!!!)

Hi Alfadog, when (and if!!!) my car is "finished" I will be trying to take it "out" as much as possible - why not flaunt it!!! The answer is - I would love to be there, just depends on how money goes, besides I will be much poorer then since I'll be coming back from a 4 week vacation (secret purchasing trip) in Japan!

Hi all, For a second I was starting to think that someone went to the motor trimmers (where my car is currently) and borrowed it for a while. Then they decided to pull the engine out from my car, but didn't like the single Garrett ball-bearing turbo because it would have been to obvious - so they replaced the factory twins back on!!! Luckily as I called the shop to check out the whole deal, the guy told me my car was still there (I has been there for ages now, and that isn't really the answer that I wanted to hear!!!) Phew, I guess there is a growing trend for zedders to fit RB26DETT engines, they must all be seeing the light... One last thing, that car could be of good use to me as it is RHD, the same as OZ...maybe I should find out who owns it and buy it from them as a sister car to mine...
  10. Ok guys, my bet is that the engine bay is of a Z432 (PS30) and the engine is a S20 unit. The other car that it "may be" is a Z432-R (PS30SB) but I don't think that this is the case here. Engine specs: capacity: 1989cc bore & stroke: 82 x 62.8mm compression ratio: 9.5:1 (9.0 on Regular) valve gear: dohc fuel system: 3 x Solex carburattors Bhp @ rpm: 160 @ 7000 Torque [lfbt] @ rpm: 132 @ 5600 (power dropped to 155 bhp on Regular) Now to be fair, do I win the engine???
  11. Hi Bob, Congratulations!!! Glad to hear that you are planning to do a RB26DETT. aha, more and more are seeing the light...

I must agree with zkid, the old feature that enabled us to see who was in the chat room does help to catch members for a yarn b4 they exit!!! Maybe we should bring it back and revive the chat room???

Hi all, Here is a picture of two GTR oil sumps. The top one has been modified for extra oil capacity. Note the front diff and drive shaft flanges!!! btw guess what is going to happen to my RB26DETT zed when I get some more money??? 4wd RB26DETT 240Z hhhmmm that would be nice, very nice!!!

Hi all, Sorry Ivan I do not know the part numbers for the 200zr bits that you are looking for, I would think that the Nissan dealers in Australia be confused if you asked them about 200zr parts anyway!!! I made my own engine mounts by modifying the factory aluminium GTR ones. For the oil sump I modified an RB30DET (from a Holden VL Commodore) and also had to modify the oil pick up so that it goes into the deep end of the sump!!! The reason that I used the RB30DET oil sump as a base to modify is that it fits onto the RB26DETT block (the GTR engine blocks are double drilled to take all the RB sumps) You should be able to just use your RB25DET oil sump and modify that one to clear the steering rack (I couldn't use the RB26DETT one because they have the front drive shafts coming out of it, the GTR is 4WD remember?) A very good trick for the oil pick up is to tap it with a screwdriver and make a V indent into it, this will ensure that the engine does not starve of oil if you were to be unlucky and bottom out and crush your sump at any stage. Good luck.

Hi all, Ivan >> the intake manifold that I’m using a factory one, it is standard only on the RB26DETT - all of the other RB engines have the air intake crossing over the valve covers (making the intercooler plumbing harder, messier and longer, which raises bonnet clearances issues also in a zed). There are several aftermarket intake manifolds which replace the RB manifolds (and are forward facing like the RB26DETT) available such as Greedy (by Trust). Here is a picture of a manifold which is non factory on the RB26DETT (but not a Greedy one) Points to note: In this picture they have removed the factory individual throttle bodies set up (as used on the RB26DETT, aimed at sharper throttle response etc.) and have gone to a single large one. This is common in Japan, as not all aftermarket ECUs have the provision to run the multiple throttle bodies set up. (I personally wouldn’t do that, there are several ECU that can do the job, such as Autronic and Motec as well as others) Don’t get tempted (as others have done) to modify your RB25DET intake manifold by just welding up the intake which crosses the valve covers and repositioning the throttle body to the front. This will give incorrect air flow to each cylinder (favour some over others) and will result in detonation, which we all know is not all that healthy for the engine’s life!!! The RB26DETT intake manifold has ‘curves’ on the inside which is designed to direct air to each cylinder and also tapers towards the back.

Hi all, I have a GTR motor in my 240Z Just wanted to make you all jealous - or justify to myself that the extra expense of an RB26DETT was all worth while!!!
  22. Hi Zvoiture, I was wandering why are you anti-turbo??? (Anti V8 I can understand) If you dislike turbo engines due to "turbo lag" (Porsche 930 turbo, BMW 2002 turbo and other cars are famous for this) then - things have really changed and progressed from those early days! Ball-bearing turbo technology has paved the path to "instant" throttle response from modern turbo setups. Personally I think that despite what lots of people believe, superchargers are way less efficient than turbochargers. Remember the Turbo era of Group B rally cars? (Lancia 037, Audi Quattro, Peugeot 205 Turbo 16 etc….) Now there is some nice machinery!!!

Hi all, If you are looking into an RB engine conversion look at this site: www.hybridz.org They have lots of info there. Stony and I also post there as well, we both have done RB26DETT conversions, he has done it to a 260Z and I have a 240Z. Look at the forum called "alternate 6 cylinder non L6 board" and do a search for RB26DETT, Stony has done a write up on "how to" Leeroy, I don’t see why the RB20DET would be any easier than the rest of the RB engines!!! (Unless you are talking about bonnet clearance issues). All RB conversions will require the same kind of work to make them go inside a zed shell. Things like: modified oil sump and oil pick up, engine management, intercooler and plumbing (if it is a turbo engine), engine and gearbox mounts, modified drive shaft, throttle cable etc.... Good luck!!! PS. if you need specific questions answered, then you can send me a PM.

Hi Alfadog, a 260Z 2+2 hatch will NOT fit your 240Z!!!
  25. Hi Ivan, you may have seen my RB26DETT conversion in my 240Z. I used a Holden Statesman radiator which is a triple core unit. The radiator fits well between the rails, only requiring the radiator to have a few holes drilled for the bolts, and a small amount of metal to be trimmed on the radiator itself, not the zed body! The other problem using the Statesman radiator is that the water return is on the wrong side of the engine block, so what I did was get a stainless pipe made to cross over the water to the correct side for a RB block (water in and out on the RHS of the engine on RBs) I replaced the factory fans with twin 10” electric units, there are photos of my radiator and fan setup in the gallery section.
