  1. Front differential mount is usually the klunk cause.
  2. I've been trying to keep up with my build threads everywhere, but it can be tricky. I've been doing regular maintenance. Thanks to Blue, got the carbs a lot better off. Decided a few weeks ago to have a go at the paint and.... voila! Picking up a better off L28 this weekend probably, and starting the rebuild. It's already got flat tops, and will be coupled to either my E31 head (once repaired) or MN47 head once re-worked.
  3. Nice. I wish I had an uncracked dash. I'm pretty sure that the mechanical bulk of the dash is shared from 74 to 78, but I wouldn't be so sure about the wiring. I haven't looked into it, but I wouldn't be surprised if there were some minor wiring changes between some of the years. I would at least take a good look at the connectors and make sure the same locations are populated with the same color wires on all of the connectors. 76 to 77 sounds pretty innocent though... I would be more concerned between anything with an ammeter vs voltmeter or a 78 to anything prior because of the fuel pump changes. All else fails or if you do discover any differences, just strip the wiring harness out of your 76 and move it over to the 77.

  5. ZTherapy I owe you a big old THANK YOU! My carbs are smooth idling and accelerating. Don't have to use too much choke on start up either. They cleaned up nice and work like new, I can only guess as I was 3 years old when they were new. Thanks again, Cliff.

    Sorry about that, didn't mean to cause envy. I'm an old fart at 57 so it took a long time to get to this stage. I had three snowmobiles but my boys moved out of state so I sold them and a nice trailer and bought my lift with that money. I wouldn't have been able to do that out of "general funds" because according to my wife there are more important things to spend money on...
