Door panel moisture barrier film

Featured Replies

I am reinstalling my interior door panels and need info on an appropriate moisture barrier (material type, thickness, et.) thanks in advance.

72 240 Z

The original vapor barrier is very thin, transparent plastic. I bought a roll from Home Depot ages ago, something like this:

For sticking it to the door, I really like this stuff:

The plastic sticks to it, and it to the door, really well even in the heat of summer. If you have to open it up to get inside the door, you will have to make a new plastic sheet, as it will not pull away from this product without damaging the plastic. It is an easy job, so no big deal.

Excellent recommendations. Thank you. I'll be picking those items up soon. The sticky strips are a bonus recommendation.

I decided to go through all the effort to register and join this forum community just to say this:

For a ’72 240Z, a thin but durable plastic or butyl-based moisture barrier around 0.03–0.05 inches thick works well.

Another good catch. I saw the comment and just thought it was a real person who didn't know what they were talking about. "butyl-based" AI nonsense. Odd phrases like "forum community".

The punctuation looks good though and the words almost make sense.

Well honestly, those were my words.

I was trying to highlight the fact that it looked fishy (to me) that someone would go through the time and effort to create a brand new account... Just to say that useless thing. 🙂

Oh, and what caught my eye first was the mention that it was "For a ’72 240Z". Like the year matters for what film would work.

So by saying it out loud, I guess I'm risking making the bots better, but that's what really started me wondering.

Sorry, that's my blunder. Didn't go back to the original. You did drop right in to the personality though. Excellent inhabitation of an AI personality. Scary.

Or you're manipulating the bots.
