Random question but what is the point of the rectangular hole in the back of the center console. I am putting in a new center console and never really figured it out.

Hmmm. The 2+2 has an ash tray back there, if we are talking about the same place.

This area it’s not a 2+2 car both my original and new console have this I have a 78

I believe it was for an ash tray on the 2+2 versions, maybe?

Just verified it's for an ash tray via my microfiche

Ok that makes sense I didn’t know the 2+2 shared the same center console
