Locking doors

Featured Replies

Hey mates

I've begun to have an issue I'm hoping someone can help me with. My drivers side door locks itself when the door closes, great when I'm being lazy but not so much when the keys are still in it. I took the door panel off this but don't really see anything wrong. Anyone have this kind of issue and how did you solve it?

Cheers

Yes, there is a spring that broke in the lock mechanism. The spring provides the tension to keep the mechanism from falling down into the locking position. You have to remove the mechanism from the door to fix it.

That's what I was expecting. Thanks mates for the response.

I need to clean up the garage this week. I know I have a locking mechanism lying about somewhere. If I find it and remember this thread, I'll post some photos of how I repaired it.

how long has the door been doing this locking on its own thing
