Posted June 8, 20159 yr comment_471543 I've been working on my antenna and found that the last section will not extend. It is truly locked in place! Everything else works perfectly and a lot of folks might say be happy with what you've got. However... I'm readying the car for ZCON judging and would like to have an antenna mast that FULLY extends. So... does anyone have a Harada pointed tip antenna mast that fully extends, has good finish, and is available for purchase? My next quest will be for some unicorn horns and hen's teeth. Thanks,Jim Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/51629-pointed-tip-antenna-mast/ Share on other sites

June 10, 20159 yr comment_471644 I did a full restoration for the pointy tips even how to replace the cord. Please look that up. The whole mast can be taken apart the tip unscews and the can be fully taken apart. Well worth the time to take apart clean and put back together. Now I need to find the black dome like thing and it chrome cap to complete mine Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/51629-pointed-tip-antenna-mast/#findComment-471644 Share on other sites

June 10, 20159 yr Author comment_471693 AJ - thanks for the links (I previously had them saved as favs). My problem is not a broken nylon core but a locked section. The rod of the last section is firmly locked in the last tubular section - no in/out movement whatsoever. The motor runs freely and the mast goes up and down smoothly except for the last section not extending. I suspect something has happened to the ferrule attached to the end of the solid rod and it has become fixed to the tubular section in some manner. So... even if I removed the tip, the rod section will still not drop out the bottom of the assembly. The rod has about 1/8" showing and even a few light taps on the tip would not break it free.
