Front Disk Problem.....

Featured Replies

Hello all

I am replacing the front disks on my S-30 early 72 with a new set of rotors I got from Amazon. I was putting things together with the hub/rotor assembly mounted onto the spindle, bearings set and torqued, the disk seemed to be 1/2 inch farther out then normal from the brake back cover. When I tried to install the caliper, it confirmed it. Like I said the bearings are properly seated and the spindle nut was in the right place with no visible problems and everything lined up.

Is there a difference in years and models of the front disk for the Z cars. Better yet, I would like to know the exact measurement of the disk shoulder(the hub mounting face and the rotor face) of a original set of rotors.

I think I got the wrong disks and just need that measurement to confirm it.

Thanks!

Just measured mine from a 1970 Z 1.575" from the surface of the disc that the wheel bolts against to the surface that the pads ride against. I can give you other measurements if you want them.

I just did a quick check of the online catalogue and it shows a P/N change during the 240Z series (40206-E4100 --> 40206-E4101) but no effective date. Beginning in 08/1973 which should be the beginning of the '74 models of the 260Z the P/N went to 40206-N3100. Hope this helps resolve your question as to getting the correct parts.

motorsport shows the same part for all 240z years, but a different rotor for the '74-'78 260z/280z. perhaps that later fitment is what you ended up with...

That is the problem. The disks I have now, that measurement is 1.201 (30.5MM) it needs to be like yours, 1.574 (40MM). Thank you for taking that time to help!

think that is the problem. A lot of online order places list the part for all years so little details like this gets missed.

Thanks again!
