Well, I had a lovely Saturday with this old gal...

I replaced the battery, drained the old gas, filled her up with new gas, and got the stuck drum off. With a little bit of starter fluid and a few turns of the key she started up...then got on fire! Luckily I was prepared and had an extinguisher on hand. No harm was down. The vent tube on the front carb is pissing out fuel when she turns over. The float is either stuck or leaking. Hope to find out soon...she sounded sooooo good. I have no idea what cam is installed but I liked how it sounded.

A few problem I noticed is the horn sticks and there is an after market horn installed in under the hood. The OEM radio does not turn on, probally becasue the PO had an aftermarket stereo system and there are wires everywhere.

Nice 240 goob! That's awesome you were able to get it running relatively easy, hope I have the same luck. I also am working on getting a VA find back on the road.

not trying to brag, but I an very lucky to find such a great Z!

Ordered a set of heater hoses since the braided ones are leaking. Also, th ebrake pedal went straight to the floor. So I got a few more things to do before she hits the road.

If any local guys want to come out and tinker let me know.

congrats bud...Take the time to nurse back to health slowly. I worked with Eiji at Datsun Spirit and he is a good guy. Very honest and considerate of what YOU want. Not what HE wants to sell you.

Well, I have my fingers crossed that this motor lasts...LOL

The rear diff is nasty looking. I am going to degrease it and see whats going on there.

Looks like a great find! Hope to see you at the Carlisle Import & Kit Nationals in May.
