This is not Z related but does contain an interesting caution for international shipping of autos. European buyers of Z's from the U.S. come to mind.

I have shipped a few cars in my life time , always get content insurance .

Getting paid first is rule number one. Hiring a well known firm that will spend time talking with you is number two. All the rest is like everything else in life - the more you prepare the better the outcome (taking pictures before the vehicle is loaded, insurance, car prep,etc.) are easy after 1 and 2 are done.

I've shipped my Z from Baltimore to France when I moved back to Europe.

Stereo, cover filter, Original Datsun key ring were gone on my Z, luckily, it was the only issue found. Nothing too dramatic.

Some have been less lucky: doors stolen from the car, bumpers, etc.

Cars are left alone in a ship for a full month, things can happen.

I have been working in a port as well for some days, I've seen how people manage cars when they unload them from the ship: high revs when engine is cold, they're pushing the engine cold on the car park to "test" the car. I've seen it done with an original Shelby GT350

I've rarely heard any "accidents" when shipping car, at least my Z was in "as is" condition. I had (if i remember correctly) 20000€ insurance, payed 50 bucks for it. To me high value insurance for cheap means freight company trusts its people. And in my case the trust was earned.

So now this car has a ''rebuilt'' status ?

I guess you take real chances shipping anything .

It would only have "rebuilt" status if the car / title were totalled and marked SALVAGE. Otherwise - it would have 'recent restoration" done...
