seat repair help needed

Featured Replies

i'm in the process of repairing my seat from a 72 240z. i was going to replace the foam and covers but when i got them out and had a closer look i changed my mind. the basic problem was the strapping had failed. the passenger seat looks new with no rips or wear. my friend who is in the classic car restoration business has already got it repaired. the problem now is the driver seat. it's ripped on the seat cushon and torn by the leaver for the back release. i called some seat cover vendors but they won't split up a set. can't really blame them. i'm hoping a fellow member might have a spare driver cover to sell. even just the bottom will help. is there a difference between the passenger and driver covers? thanks in advance.

enjoy the ride.

I have a NOS red bottom cover. Contact Les @ Classic Datsun Motorsports. He can most likely get you just the drivers side.

les was one of the vendors i talked to. does it matter if it's a driver or passenger seat?

You have a 72 seat that uses strapping? I thought they went to spring seats that year.

If it's an early 72, it could have 71 seats if that was the available stock.

build date is 10/71

i don't have retractible seat belts but i do have the pockets for them.

Yeah, that sounds like an early 72 to me.

"Hey, we have a few production parts left from last year."

"Okay, throw them into the bin. We'll use them."
