Anyone know if the tach and the speedo from a 260Z will work in a 77 280Z?

Without any mods.

speedo yes for sure, only thing about the tach, if its a three wire, (12v , ground and a single connector from coil -) pretty sure all 260's had switched by then. The connector may differ, but easy to switch the harness from one to the other.

Maybe one factor not to like is the lettering font on 77 gauges is different, so they won't match exactly. Both have 280 style dashes so the mounting is identical.

Thanks zKars. I had an opportunity to purchase the gauges from a 74 but found out the speedo was not working so I just decided against it. Some are probably asking why not just go with the 77 gauges? I will if I can find them. I have been looking for a couple months now. I'm not willing to pay some of the prices that are out there like reddat on ebay for 275.00 for a set that says its from a 75-78. And they don't look that good. Or zcarsource that wants 200 bucks for each gauge!

I replaced my whole dash in my 77 a while ago with one that had fewer cracks. I sold the small gauges, but I've still got my original 77 speedo and tach if you're interested. How does $45 shipped sound?

But wait, that's not all... Act before midnight tonight and if you let me know what you want the odometer to read, I'll even adjust it to your desired mileage before I box it up?
