Door troubles

Featured Replies

So my passenger door wont open from the outside so i have to open it up from the inside everytime i have to take someone out. I have a spare door handle mechanism in case something is broken, but how do i get to it. The door panels are held together by clips right? how many and where are these clips?

There is probably about 6-8 (4 on bottom and two or 3 on either side). Start prying gently at the botton trailing edge (of course remove inner door handles and latch first). They pop off fairly easily. The top of the panel just hooks over the top of the door frame.

Those door panels are getting old and crumbly. A suggestion is to make yourself a tool out of a wide blade putty knife. Cut a v-notch about an inch deep into the middle of the blade. Slip the blade under the panel so that the clip fits into the v-notch, and then pry. This will mitigate the chance that you damage the panel.

For future maintenance, imho is that you get rid of the clips and put velcro or stuff like that to hold the door panel on place. My panels were so worn out that clips were out of option.

Slight thread jack here. Koalia,That is a good tip. Does the velcro hold the panel in OK.

yeah that velcro sounds like a good idea. im gonna look into that

Some dudes have used it and with succes, i use 3M sealant strip , black sticky stuff that holds forever.
