Impressions of MSA Short Throw Shift Kit?

I'm thinking of buying the MSA short throw shift kit.

Has anyone installed one and can you give your opinion on how they like it?

I've got one on my '78 5-speed transmission. It took a little modifying with a rotary tool, but it fits well now. It was a very, very significant improvement over the original shifter with nearly non existent bushings. I've driven some cars with very short throw shifters and this kit doesn't offer extremely short throws but it is a good improvement nonetheless. I like the shift knob too.

I can't remember where, (probably on this site) but I remember seeing a post by someone that made their own shortshifter for a later tranny. They basically took one of the shifters that had the longer distance from pivot to bottom, and drilled new holes on the tranny pivot pin ears about 1/2" higher than stock. This effectively created a shorter throw. I can't remember if he shortened the shifter as well. I plan on trying this when I get there.

I have one on my recently installed '79 5-speed and I think it is the MSA kit, with a cut and shortened upper shaft mod. It is short but it takes all the "butteriness" out of the Z tranny. I think I prefer the stock, longer throw, with the smoother action. I might revert. Since I had never driven this particular trans without it, I can't 100% say the shifter is at fault.
