Hi Gang:

Owner passed and left it to a charity.

Someone should go look at this 70 Z. At $2250.00 it "might" be a car that could be saved. Looks like the right rear quarter might have been replaced.. but if the floors/frame rails are good... it might be a good project for someone.

I always get nervous when I see a Z sitting out on a grass field. Can't be good for the underbody. That interior looks almost new, dash, console, etc

Interior looks "original" so it is not surprising to see the seats split out... I don't know how long it has been sitting outside in the grass. The original owner's estate donated it to the present non-profit.

It all depends on how much rust is in the floorboards and frame rails - but the car has been in California - - - and dirt aside it "might" be a very solid car to refresh or restore.

The blue on the right rear quarter panel - would have to be looked at carefully. No problem of the panel was replaced properly... but it could be work if it was a poor job to begin.

Dust and dirt just lower the price, not so much the market value... wonder if that is a Super Speed 20 in the spare?

No, it's a later RD-108. Dates from 1980 or so.

If some one looks at it, look VERY carefully. In addition to the blue right rear quarter, both the hood and - worse - the radiator support show signs of orange paint. It may have been pieced together from multiple cars....

I am in contact with the owner, arranging a look see...he is not down with tire kickers and people without money. I just want to see it and get a report back to you guys....I don't have the cash for it right now.

I can't blame him too much for not wanting to waste time with tire-kickers on a $2250.00 car - - - on the other hand, he should be happy to show you the car, so you can give an informed report to the Z Car Community va this public forum. No one expects a new car for $2250.00... but most prospective buyers would like to know that the car has been physically inspected by someone that knows something about these models.

Not sure, could be a power inverter.

Edit - I retract that answer. A power inverter would be mounted much closer to the battery I think.

Looks like the dash has a different hazzard mechanism than the original toggle switch for 1970. Could be the dash was replaced or swapped out? Speedometer starts at 20 mph which would be correct, but I guess the PO could have installed the original instruments. Has anyone gone to see the car?

Couldn't he have just replaced the switch with that pull type?

That shift boot looks like the original type. It's in remarkably good condition compared to the seats.

Here is another 1970 (8/70) production just listed on eBay that seems like it is in much better condition and may be a better buy, even though the BIN price ($5500) is more than twice what they are asking for the other car. It comes with a stack of documentation, including the original invoice.
