Here the local AutoZone carries an STP and a Fram element for no more than $7 or so.

240z/260z or 280z? There is a difference.

Actually the 1970-72 air filter is different than the 1973-74 one. When Nissan switched to the flat-top SU’s these carbs had more depth and hence the air filter element was reduced in height on the ’73 and ’74 S30 models so the overall depth of the carb plus air filter would be the same.

actually, it is a 73 240z, but i'm in the process of updating the car with a set of ztherapy su's and boxing my hitachis.

Napa, Schuck's/Kragen, and SummitRacing all carry 240 filters in the low teens ($).

If you want a K & N for the origional early air cleaner '70-'72 the part number is E-2910 I ordered mine form Summit Racing. Gary

Gary's post with the part number given is the most informative one on this thread.

Post the part numbers guys! Otherwise people show up at the stores you mention, ask for the item and are told.... "If it's not on the shelf, then we don't have it."
