mold

Featured Replies

my bro has a mazziratti bi-turbo that's been on jackstands for at least 18 months.it's been covered and stored in a heated garage all that time. it's the same place i store my zed. a few days age he checks inside and discovers mold.:disappoin it's the only vehicle out of four that are keep there with mold. now it's got me thinkin. what should i do to prevent this happing to my zed? over the winter i cover my zed but i check up on it at least once a week and open the hatch or door, look inside. never a hint of musty smell or anything. somebody told him to put in some fans, but how will that help when the air inside the cab isn't moved. any suggestions? tia

I would throw a package or three of dessicant in the car-no/low moisture, no mold.

What he said! ^^^^^

Guns/ammo shops have large (1/4 lb) dessicant bags for use in gun cabinets to keep rust away.

Mat M, how do you know these things? :()

Got a few guns hiding in the closet do ya?

man! someone else beat me to dessicant.

just go to a shoe store and steal all of the little silica gel packets LOL

No, they're not hiding, they are in a locked cabinet in my front room, being held dry with two of the fore-mentioned bags. :smoke:

Another thing to keep in mind is that mold spores are carried by/on/with dirt/dust. So always do a good job of vacuuming the carpet and clean every other surface thoroughly prior to long term storage.

Once you get mold growing on leather or vinyl - just cleaning it off isn't enough. You have to kill the mold spores that get deeper into the material - - - so you need a germ killer like Lysol. Always test a small area before you use any product that kills germs - some contain bleach and you don't want to bleach any of the color out of anything...

FWIW,
