New Job!

Featured Replies

I just wanted to let everyone know how happy I am. I recently left my job as a retail manager, where I had to work weekends. I have been in retail or reastaurants since I first started working and have never had weekends off.

I will be starting later this month at Sikorsky Aircraft. It will be third shift, but I will get all holidays off plus every weekend. I will finaly have time to go to the track, car shows, and do whatever I want.

This is going to be a great year.

Congrats on your new job, I'm sure you'll finally enjoy having weekends and holidays off! :classic:

This sounds like really good news for you. Who knows, maybe after getting to know some of the designers and machinists, you could have them reverse engineer and reproduce some hard to come by Z car parts! Maybe even develop a side business partnership with the aircraft company to manufacture and market those parts. Something to think about?

Good luck in your new endevour and enjoy the 'normal' days off.

Awesome to hear! What kind of work are you going to do and what sort of degree do you have for this job if one is required?

Mt brother works at some plant that produces parts for computers, like all the dirty work, and he has access to almost every tool imagineable. He actually sits and makes stuff after work with left over parts if he needs something which is pretty cool. He started as a nobody but is now friends with all the boss's so he can do a lot of stuff there at the shop now.

JFYI, I might be calling you up in the future to make some special part for my Z!

My neighbor and another friend work 3rd shift there. I'll probably pass you going the other way on 110 in the morning when I go to our Stratford office. Congrtulations on your new career!

Congrats Jeremy - Does this mean, one day your Z will literaly "fly"? :classic: Good Luck with the new job!

Awesome! Sikorsky, makers of such fine aircraft as the Coast Guard's HH-60 Jayhawk (known to others as the Blackhawk). Sounds like you're in for a really awesome career, Congratulations.

Thanks again for all the support. I have a Bachelors in Computer Science. This will be something outside my career. I will be working in the blade shop. I am not 100% sure what I will be doing, but the money is great, and once im in then you have a better chance of moving around.

As far as being able to use the tools to make things, im not sure how that will work. They do lots of work for the military, so security it tight.

I start on the 26th so we will see then.

What makes working there even better, is I live right off Rt. 110 and Rt. 113. It should take me 5 min. to drive down the road.
