Posted June 22, 200618 yr comment_171883 Ok, I know this is a REALLY stupid question, but somone once was making fun of a car on Ebay because of this, so to keep the Z-police happy...What direction are the front side marker lights mounted? Specifically, is the thick end the front, or the back? (Yes, I know that the front fenders get the yellow ones...)Let the abuse begin, but please answer the question... eventually. I am trying to finally get this thing put back together, and I realized that I have never actually seen these mounted to the car, so I can't be sure which direction they are supposed to be mounted. June 22, 200618 yr comment_171886 It isn't a stupid question. Just watch as the debate gets furious!I believe that the thick end towards the front is correct, although I prefer the the other way. June 22, 200618 yr comment_171893 Mike is right as far as I know. The reason I always thought was so that they were flat (more visible on the side). Please feel free to tell me I'm wrong!P.S. My 240 had neither, and that's the best way IMO!! June 22, 200618 yr comment_171896 The thick ends are nearest the ends of the car. Therefore the fronts have thick to the front, rears vice-versa. When properly mounted, the lens surface should be parallel to the centerline of the car. This allows the reflectors to reflect to the widest field of view.Note that having the reflectors parallel to the centerline was a US DOT requirement, so I don't know if the rest of world had theirs mounted as we did here. June 22, 200618 yr comment_171901 Walter,Don't feel too bad. My project car has the back side markers on backwards and I get grief from my son's 19 year old buddy. I've known it, but the car sits waiting for the project to start (imminent now). He reminds me of it constantly. No respect! June 23, 200618 yr Author comment_172006 I thought the thick end went towards the "Outside" edge of the car, but I am happy to have that confirmed. That is what I love about this site. You can always get an answer to any Z-car related question here. Sometimes you get several answers... one of them has to be correct! That maybe true but you should at least be consistant and have both sides the same !
