door keys

Featured Replies

For most Zs, yes. The exception is the '70 and early '71 240Zs. They came with separate keys - one for the ignition and one for everything else.

is the key supposed to work in the hatch also on a 74.5 260z?

Not necessarily so my friends.

There's been quite a bit of discussion on this subject recently.

My 8/74 260 has one key for the ignition and one for everything else.

Sometimes there is a difference when a previous owner has changed the ignition lock without having it re-keyed.

In the US, they went to the one-key-fits-all program starting with 1/71 production. Other parts of the world were different.

I got my ignition key to work in the passenger door, but not the hatch, or the driver door. I guess those ones are just worn out because those are the ones that were used the most.

You can remove the door locks and hatch lock, take them to a locksmith and have him set each cylinder to your ignition key. They usually charge about $15 per lock.
