I have 2 problems to solve. I need a rear defogger and the heater switch to "plug" in. I found out the defogger wire coming out of the console is not hooked up. Where do I look to find the 3-wire connector?

If anyone has done a dash or has one apart, can you please give me some help with this wiring? All I need is to find the connectors and plug them in. I have a "small guy" coming to help me on Friday. I am hoping I can tell him where to look. OK, guys??

You can get diagrams of the connector locations to go along with your wiring diagrams. Definitely look into some of those to add to your collection of service literature.

Not sure what year this is and it doesn;t have labels for the connectors, but it may help nonetheless.

I have copied this schematic. I cannot find the female connector for the defogger? It is a flat 2-prong connector. It has to be in the middle of the dash.

Loren, what is your car's build date? On mine the defroster switch is a pair of blades terminals, not in a plastic connector at all.

My build date is 2/71. It is a standard '71 MK 1, I believe. I need to look for a single connection?

When I was doing the wiring replacement on mine, I found that there were lots of changes starting in 1/71, so any comparisons to mine aren't necessarily valid.

FYI - When looking for a replacement harness I found that the harnesses seemed to change every few months of production. Your best bet is to hunt down someone with a similar 2/71 car who might be able to look at their wiring.

If I can get my "small buddy" to get under the dash with his head, he may be able to match up the missing wires. We will be doing it tomorrow. Wish us well!

My Z has the same build date ZSaint. I'll look tomorrow morning for you and see if I can locate the connector for you and report back.

Well...not sure if this will help, but here's a pic of my 5/72 heater control panel from the rear (with notes). If it's confusing, just ignore it. I know the defog wiring's probably different given console differences, but the heater wiring may be similar and of some benefit.

XRay and others... I have found the short in the heater fan. It now is working. I cannot find the connector for the R/Window defogger. Looking at your pic, it looks like the connector below the heater connector is like the one I need. I have the console switch but cannot find the connector. Anyone know which connector is one is?
