I did indeed buy my car from Mike. I have had it almost a year now.

The original engine was replaced with a L26.

There's a real good code listing in VB's catalog as well guys....in the front.

you are correct in your idea of my car originally allocated to california.

she lived there for 22 years before her second owner relocated to fort lauderdale. i bought her in feb of 2002 4 hours after she was first advertised and now live in tampa.

My '71 was built 2/71 VIN as noted in my sign. '78 280Z VIN is listed too. Not sure on production date.

There were several letters in there. According to the Haynes book AND THE FSM:

GHLS30 [1] [2] [3] [4] ######

F = 5-spd gearbox

A = auto trans

(blank = 4 spd

[2]

U = North American model (U.S.A and Canada)

[3]

N = Canada model

V = California emmissions/spec

(blank) = fed. spec

[4]

C = Air conditioning

So mine should have been HLS30AUC 434056
