Thanks for the pic, Chris. Yeah, I'd call it a vented hat rotor also. Otherwise, much confusion could result since it's not a true "vented rotor" in the common sense of the term.

IMO, it makes sense that Nissan went away from that design. It doesn't appear to be very beefy.

I agree Carl, I wrote my response in a rush last night, or early morning...vented hats more accurate.

I've heard that the vents do help somewhat with cooling, but have resisted so far to trying em out on the track under race conditions....

As far as why the switch was made, not sure. I've seen these rotors on 5 different under Vin#5000 240Zs...must be pretty good stuff to last the 100,000 plus miles my cars have. Of course, driving conditions would change life of rotor.... Be interested in who still has these on car.

The picture I posted above of the ducted backing plate shows the vented hat rotor still on #215.

Lets not forget seat belt hooks. I'm looking for three of these!

Dave, remember my mold making idea? I'm going to a class / seminar March 5 on making molds and hope to get at the seat cushion guard ( or whatever you call it).

just contacted guy and going tomorrow.he says they are z caps.(oh oh) not a good sign is it? maybe he doesn't know what he has.(he owned a 73z) i'll try to match up the hood vent or hatch with the picture 27thZ sent. the speedometer is definately early though if it starts at 20mph right?

p.s.- he says he has the interior tail vinyl piece too.

Chris, they are metal short little things covered in a black rubber like vinyl stuff. The long plastic ones go on the side of the body and there's a difference.

Mark, that is the same as the rotor first one I posted - I had it turned and powder coated. That poor rotor fell out of the box when I bought it and it was lost in the back of a FedEx truck for a few days. I don't like the powder coating - the experiment that convinced me to paint instead of powder coating.

Patrick, the early amp gauge went to 45 amps and the early oil pressure gauge went 140 pounds. Very early speedometers (20mph) have flat slotted screws holding the face plate on instead of phillips head screws. The early tail light panel had no access plates to change the bulbs. I have been looking for one of those.
