today while at work my buddy was jetting around in his 240. just sorta messing around. He has a MSA exhaust, and it hangs SUPER low to the ground. As he was entering the driveway i heard a loud scrape. Then the exhaust got really loud. Turns out it bottomed out, then ripped off the exhaust from the downpipe back. Man, did it sound SWEEEET. It was loud as all hell, but sweet. It makes me want to run open exhaust. but im sure the cops would have a fuss.

Not to mention your neighbors.

Its pronounced Zweet!

Bet it was pretty funny. For everyone but the guy that had to replace it.

Plus, I think you really need some type of "back pressure" that an exhaust system provides, no?

when my 240z was running i was in the process of getting a pipe made from header all the way back, and ran an open header for like 2 months. it was soo awesome, espically goosing it between two buses, it echoed and amplified it, it was awesome, no tickets tho, thank god, must be lazy arse fla cops, hehehe. but any ride over 45 mintues gave you the worst headache...(tooo loud)

By that I mean it would be really easy for one guy to decide he is going to change lanes and not notice the tiny japanese sports car next to him.

Hey MarcDude,

I have an electric cutout on my Firebird. At a touch of switch I can open an elect. solenoid valve that opens the exhaust cutout after the collector, then close it with the switch too. It is a fun toy to play with, scare the bajiggers out of old ladies and Mustang drivers.

On my Z i have the dual exhaust set up much like the rally cars. Currently it only has 1 resonator(glass pack) from the look of them on each side. The PO had used steel wool to keep it quiet and it was still pretty loud.

At the moment I dont use steel wool to keep her quiet and she's loud as hell really echo's much like Tidoubleger24 was explaining it really screams at 7000rpm :)
