Posted October 15, 200420 yr comment_98324 My dome, glove box and clock do not work, I tested the switches for continuity and all were good along with the fuse. I'm not too good with the multimeter yet and I need to know the best or anyway to test for power.I'm not getting any reading on the meter. So either no power or improper testing. I also assume all are on the same circuit. Thanks Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/13641-testing-for-voltage/ Share on other sites
October 16, 200420 yr comment_98358 I even have a buzzer thing made up so I can test for power by myself, like the horn circuit, or any time you need people in two places while testing. It's basically a tongue depressor with a Radio-Shack 12-volt buzzer glued to it. One wire on the buzzer goes to a probe/pin (so you can clip on a wire with alligator clip) and the other wire has a ground wire/alligator clip to clip onto a ground. You might even invest in a0.99 (Dollar store?) circuit tester with the bulb in it. thx Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/13641-testing-for-voltage/#findComment-98358 Share on other sites
October 16, 200420 yr Author comment_98363 Took the dash apart this am.( clock had to come out anyway). Car should be surrounded with yellow crime scene tape. Duct work not hooked up wires cut or spliced wtih no logic whatsoever. This is gonna take awhile...... October 16, 200420 yr comment_98369 rust, PO. Rust, PO. Aww hell both can be worse than Kidney stones! You might try taking a spare (or hacked-up) light bulb harness and socket(Sidemarkers work very well as they sit) to use as a test light. Sometimes a VOM will show 11-14v when there is no load on a circuit, but when a load is present the voltage drops drasticly! To duplicate the same function as a test light you must also measure (and evaluate) the resistance in a circuit as well as the voltage. October 17, 200420 yr Author comment_98404 Hopfully not too many more by me! For some reason my old zx seemed easier than this 1977 Z. I do have the schematics , but when it looks like the bomb squad went in and cut every blue and red wire in sight I may as well have my color blind lab in there with me tracing wires.
