new muffler and exhaust system

Featured Replies

im looking for a new muffler for my new 71 Z. the muffler on my wrecked 72 was awesome....but i have no idea what it was (i didnt install it, the previous owner did). i think he said something about dynomax...it was a loud one and i loved it. the previous owner had put on a new header and exhaust, but the exhaust hung down quite a bit (i dont think it followed the stock tunnel). but i dont care about that, all i want is that muffler back but the insurance company wont let me take it. so does anyone here have a dynomax or something thats pretty loud?

I'm having my entire exhaust system replaced on Wednesday, but I am NOT using a header. All 2 1/4" with a turbo muffler (not sure of brand - IPC?). I'll let you know how it turns out.

Well, I don't know how they sound but I have been planning on using a Flowmaster turbo muffler on mine when I get it ready to put on the road.

grantman, aren't you going to keep your car? I thought you would have bought it back from the insurance company so you could part it out and use all the parts on your replacement Z. Sounds like you have already found your "new" ride.

i was going to buy the car back...but i would not have made any money off of it. the only thing good on the car was the engine...but its not worth that much. the cost of buying the car back and then disposing of it would be more than what i would get from the engine. i also didnt wind up gettin that 71...the interior was in bad condition

Sorry you didn't get the car, but a bad interior is harder to fix up than a lot of the other rough spots.

Your mention of dynomax rang a bell somewhere way back in the grey matter, so I went to www.google.com and entered DYNOMAX - it returned the Dynomax muffler folks web site. Try www.dynomax.com. You might want to refer back to it when you get the new Z.
