Car is a 77 280z with fuel injection. I posted earlier on pg 5 now under "Trouble Running". Please see that for back ground, I have since replaced the fuel pressure regulator, cleanned the fuel rail and replaced the fuel filter. The trouble is, there is no fuel coming out of the return line when the car runs. As before, the car only runs for a few minutes, then bogs down like a vacuum leak... Still unable to advance the throttle without the car bogging down. I have also replaced the mass air flow sensor and the air regulator. I replaced the ECU, and checked the ECU plug with a continuity meter, doesnt seem to be an electrical or air problem. Has anybody had a similiar pro…

hey all, New member here, thought I would start my stay off here with a riddle, of the car variety of course, thanks in advance for your help. I have a 72 240z with an early L28 swapped in. problem is below the picture. about 5 minutes after I left home on a cold San Francisco day, the car starts to sputter and wont hold idle (engine just got off the full cold mark on the stock guage). It dies on me at a red light,I try to turn it back on, it cranks for about ~7-8 seconds and wont turn on until I start pumping the gas pedal. when it finally does fire up, it sounds like its not firing on all cylinders and I can smell gas out of the exhaust (leading me to believe there…

Here is a mystery. The car is an early 71 that is essentially stock, but I run a header and a Mallory dual point mechanical-only distributor. It starts great every morning and runs well for about ½ hour. Then I get a stalling effect. It is as if one turns the key off and then quickly back on. It happens once or twice at first but then gets more frequent as I go along. I had this problem before and replaced the positive and negative connectors at the coil and it went away. Now it is persistent. By the way, it only affects the engine – voltage does not drop, the lights do not dim, etc. when it occurs. Any help is greatly appreciated.

1978 280Z that has been sitting. Boiled & sealed tank, cleaned out lines, new filters and hoses. Running pretty well. Bled clutch and now she's able to move on her own. That brings us current. Had low oil pressure reading so I bought a new factory sending unit. While screwing in the new unit, it didn't seem to go in very far (I didn't realize my crescent wrench was hitting something so the sending unit wasn't very tight). Started the car and was getting spotty reading from the gauge (no surprise!). Ran it for awhile then shut her down. Later same day, put 5 gallons in the tank from a can. Went to start the car and it just turns over. Hmm. Wondered whether …

Having trouble starting my 1972 240z, just got it about 6 months ago and it had set for 8 years. Everything is original motor, transmission, differential, etc. Engine runs a little rough once it is warmed up. Drained the gas and refilled tank and included new fuel filter. New plugs, plug wires and air filter. The SU carburators round top could use some cleaning I guess, but not too experienced to do this myself. I have to turn the key to get the fuel pump working before I try to start it. Then I have to pump the gas until it finally turns over. Seems like the carburators are starving for fuel. Strong gas order like it is running to rich. I have to leave the choke fully op…

I own a 1974 260z. Everything is stock except the dual webbers. I have purchased them from a friend off his 260z that was running. I have very good spark getting all the way to the plugs. I have good compression on all cylinders. I am getting fuel all the way to the carbs. But the issue is when i try to start it. The only thing it does is sputter a little. I have ran out of ideas. Any ideas would be very helpful.

Okay. I recently got a 260z & i mostly put everything together. after i put everything together i tried to start the car. But i couldn't. i check everything and i found out that the sparkplugs didn't spark. i checked the timming out everything was good. and i found out that the ignition coil wasn't receiving any spark neither... So i don't know what to do after that, would it some fuse that doesn't work or some wiring gone bad???

Well once again my car is giving me trouble; this time in the starting department. Long story short I decided to drive my car over to my cousin's house because the weather was decent and I needed to catch up with him a bit. My car drives perfect all the way over there. Then about 10 after I get there I need to move my car to let someone out who i blocked in and my car won't start. The engine was turning over but not firing up. I pop the hood and look for loose connections and check the fuses (Dave and I replaced the fusible links with a maxifuse block thing) but still the car only wouldn't fire up. We ended up pushing my car out of the way so the person I was blocking in…
