2 for the price of one $1500
Saw this add on Craigs list. Cars are located in Port Hueneme, not a bad price from the looks of the pictures. No detailed photos other than two pictures each. http://losangeles.craigslist.org/lac/car/625992085.html

Key codes
Ron, my label is just to the left of the lock on the glove box door, and the handwritten numbers on my label are in pencil.

Loop pile carpet, any recent purchases? (2008)
Arne, my jute is not attached to the carpet either. This on a 2/71 car.

F1
My boss is an entrepreneur in healthcare. This was Mario Andretti's car. Each F1 that was built had a plaque affixed with the original owners name. He recently sold this car. He used the money from that sale to help with the purchase of a 1961 DB4-GT Zagato LHD Aston Martin. I'll post a picture of that car soon. It is red and has the bubble nose. Probably one of the most sought after sports cars in the world.

Replacing the roof?
That is quite an undertaking Arne. Good luck. Which means a repaint in the future. Are you going to stay red, or rejoin the yellow Z car club?

How often should the water pump be changed?
If it did go out, a water pump is not the type of part that you would want to change on the road, especially if the bolts that hold it to the block snap off in the block. The bolts are prone to rust issues that can't be seen. After mine broke I had to drill it out after breaking an ez out in the block. Not saying that you need to change it, but the above is what could happen if the water pump did go out.

I need a e-brake cable for a 71 240z
Just was looking at the classifieds over at hybridz.org. There is a fellow there selling an e-brake handle, boot and cable. No price listed, the ad just says make an offer. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=131513

Removing my mirror
Brian, see what I mean about the little yellow bus?

Removing my mirror
I just did that last weekend. What a PITA. Sometimes I am mechanically challenged, so perhaps there is a better way. I took the little yellow bus to mechanic school. There is only one nut that holds the mirror on. Even with a swivel on an extension I had trouble. I removed the regulator assembly and it made it much easier. I was able to put the extension and swivel through the smaller hole in the upper door panel. I used tape wrapped on my swivel to make it tighter to keep the correct angle so I could get the socket on the nut. I loosened the nut and it fell off together with the tension plate and ended up on the bottom of the door. On reinstalltion: There is a little plate that is welded horizontally inside the door up by the hole for the mirror. You will see it with a flashlight. The mirror has a tension plate that fits on under the nut securing the mirror. This plate makes it difficult to get the nut on. In order to hold that plate AND put on the nut you need some room. At least I did. Again I used tape wrapped on my swivel to make it tighter to keep the correct angle. I had to have the window all the way up cocked at an angle without the regulator on to reinstall. Then it took me awhile to figure out how to get the regulator back in. The key was to insure the top two roller goodies are in the tracks, then secure the regulator with the 4 screws. Last, install the little 3" track for the bottom roller goodie with the two screws. It took me awhile cause I kept trying to get all three roller goodies in at the same time. I also unscrewed the upright track on the front side of the door which made reinstallation easier. Good luck, I hope this helps.

Cali members beware!
It is great information. One more to place into the scanning data bank. Thanks for the headsup.

Cali members beware!
Nothing new in California. I was cited once coming down US395 into Big Pine by a CHP officer driving a Z28 Camaro. Never saw him coming.

This is a photo of my boss's McLaren. What a car. I know it is not a Z, but thought I would share anyway.

what is this?
Try your local Nissan dealer, that is where I got mine from. If not there, MSA has them in stock.

Another introduction and a question
Try dying your hair gray, you would fit right in! No one would know cause after 40 the eyes go as well.

paint color help
I have been too busy this year so far Arne. I got a good quote from a reputable guy though. To paint the rear, bottom sides and front airdam: $500. I wanted to get it done prior to the MSA show this year, but I don't think that will happen. I have a can of paint from Les for the tail light finisher panels waiting.

Take a look in my gallery. My car still has the original 1971 yellow paint that is as close to the original color as you can get.

The speedometer has 160, we have took it to 155mph.
Last Saturday I wanted to see what the old car would do. So at 5am I hit the freeway and the speedo read 125 @6300rpm. I didn't push any more after that. Didn't seem too squirly, I have the BRE spook on the front.
