  1. Thanks. Any thoughts on the area circled in green? Seems odd to have to wires coming out that dont connect to anything.
  2. That would be between 84.2 and 93.2 fahrenheit.....not bad. Of course, it's Summer down there. How cold does it get in Winter?
  3. Thanks fellas. A couple more questions (please refer to attached picture). Is the device inside the red circle the temp sensor you mentioned? I pulled off the connector and cleaned everything out. It was a bit dirty so we will see. Would a replacement be available at any auto parts store? I didnt see any online..... Also - there is another thing coming off the thermostat area circled in green. It has 2 wires coming off it that aren't connected to anything. Any ideas what that is? Again, the car is a 1970 with a 1974 260Z engine. I'm not sure what parts of the engine are from the 70 and which are from the 74. Thanks...
  4. Any ideas why my temp gauge would work about 1 out of every 3 times I drive the car? I certainly get it up to a temperature that would cause it to move, and one out of every 3 times it works perfectly. I dont think the needle in the gauge is physically stuck. What engine part sends the info to the gauge and where is it physically located? Is there any way to test it? Oh, I have a 1970Z that has a 1974 260Z engine. Thanks.........
  5. Hate to rain - or sun - on your parade but it's 76 and not a cloud in the sky here in Scottsdale. Took her for a spin nice and early this morning and have been tinkering with some electrical stuff all day. . . . I feel sorry for you guys who have to park it for 6 months. Of course - come see me starting in May when I have 5 months over 100 degrees where the only time I can drive it is sunrise....

I've replaced the 'dome light' bulb and the clock bulb. Is it possible that a wrong bulb there would hose me up?

    globes? Please elaborate....

When I got my ZCar the first thing I tested was the tail lights and brake lights and they worked just fine. Since I got the car I have really done no electrical work other than replace some bulbs and take off the heater console cover to replace and see what is inside. I also removed and reinstalled the clock. I have also washed the engine compartment since I got the car. Now, for some reason, the tail lights and brake lights don't work at all but when I depress the brake pedal (whether the car is on or not) the interior dash lights and the front parking lights light up. They turn off when I take my foot off the pedal. I finally got a test light and started poking around. I poked at the edge of all of the fuses with the car in the on position and they all lit the light except for the 3rd from the top on the left side. It is a 1970 Z. The fuse cover indicates that the fuse in question is for the 'flasher'. The fuse is not burned out at all and looks as perfect as the rest of them. When I turn on the hazard lights both front and back flash just fine. The turn signal works off and on and it clicks real slowly. Any ideas? Thanks............

Never mind - I figured it out...

Thanks again. My carpet didnt come with slots for the hooks but I've velcroed it down nicely. Does the carpet behind the seats go under the seat at all? I have a 1970 Z so the tool compartments are behind the seat. Do I need to remove those to work the carpet under somehow, then reinstall? Thanks....

Awesome - thanks. A couple more questions. Should my carpet have a provision to attach to the rear hooks? I don't see anything. Second - I've attached a photo of the pieces that must go under the seats. I can't figure out which one goes to which side of the car, and which way they are oriented. Can anyone look at the pic and let me know which carpet pictured goes on which side? Is the current North as pictured to point to the front or rear of the car or neither? Thanks,

The new carpet arrived last night and I must tell you, if you haven't refreshed your carpet it makes a major world of difference. The carpet that was in my Z when I bought it appears to have been household carpet hacked roughly into shape and it looked like crap. Anyway, I have a question. The carpet kit came from Too Intense and it came with 4 round things that must hold the carpet down somehow or somewhere. I have attached a picture. Can anyone tell me where these would go and how to use them? Thanks...

I can tell you I have maintained a diligent EBay search going for any early 240Z radios and they are very few and far between. Here is the only one currently out there: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1,1&item=4588968474&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT I have John at Baddog parts looking for stuff and he is pretty cool: http://www.baddogparts.com/ You never know what these guys can find: http://www.zparts.com/home.html Or maybe a local wrecking yard? Hope this helps.......

Do you have it yet - do you have it yet - do you have it yet?? Why am I so excited for you. We need pictures and you have to come to the Pavilions the next time the Z Club is there. That will be Sat Dec 10. Dont worry if it aint perfect. There are very few classic Z's and too many punks in 350Z's. I was there last week and mine was the oldest.....

Interesting point. I've also noticed a bit of grayish watery liquid under the engine on my garage floor. Seems to come from the rear of the block - almost under the starter. Is the water leak you refer to water leaking inside the engine from the channels where radiator fluid cools the block? That is a serious problem right? I did just flush and refill the radiator with fresh coolant/distilled H2O. The liquid on the garage floor was happening before and after that. When I changed plugs about 4 weeks ago they were all equally sooty but none of them appeared white..... I did talk to a guy at the car show yesterday who has worked on Z's for 30 years and has a shop here in town. He's going to give it a once over quite soon, tune the carbs, and check it out...
  19. Boy do I feel lucky to live in Arizona where nothing rusts. But it's a dry heat....
  20. You might see a 350Z in a simIlar color

I've done plenty of that. Does fuel additive carb cleaner cause the engine to kick out the soot? I did use some of that and the soot level has increased. Anyway, it is running so rich that it might not matter. I have an appt to get the carbs tuned and balanced......
