		hey WingZro That's identical to mine . I found mine in a freind's backyard - had a foot of grass growing up through them. Pretty cruddy, but cleaned up good.

		Replacing S30 Rear Wheel Bearings
		
		I used the described tutrial and found it to be pretty good. I had some unique problems and also found the french safe heating and cooling concept ineffective (big hammer did the trick) - might work for you though. I'm not a mechanical guy so it very helpful for me along with several other tips he offers - check out the shifter bushing tip.

		I've had both the 240 and the 280 - loved them both, drove them both to their limits - both were scary over 110 mph and neither were nice at a high speed on a windy day. But how often are you doing that? Stuff happens to 30 year old cars - they will have things that need to be fixed after all that time, but when you have replaced a few hoses, belts, bushings, corroded connections and things of that nature - you got a great and reliable car. Stephen has nailed the point, if the car is well miantained you shouldn't have any trouble.

		Another contradiction for you - from Zhome an article by Carl Beck (and others) about Z trannies and rear ends: "1977 through 1983 Factory Four/Five Speed Transmission Ratios Note: Ratios in 4spd.'s are the same as 5spd.'s For 1st-4th gears". This was only a headline for a lrge amount of data refering to these years. I am guessing this is refering to any given year as opposed to the collective group. I am fairly certain that the ZX trannies vary from the 77/78 Z versions.

		Hi - got to weigh in on the trannies - I read the same thing somewhere: 5 speed being the same as the fourspeed but with an overdrive. In the service manual page mt-14 (1977) it states: the 5 speed transmission covered in this section is similar in all respects to the four speed transmission (type F4W71B) stated previously except the overdrive position on it. Like I said I saw it somwhere else but it may have been a reference to the early 5 speeds.

		I have found the best condition Zs are coming from California or Arizona - I think the coastal regions of Texas have more rust issues (hurricanes and floods don't help either). Biggest Z issue would have to be body rust - for me if I can get a solid body I can figure out the rest.

		Hi Mohamed - I feel your pain I sold my 240 years ago and regretted it for 20 years, a couple of years ago I bought a 280, mostly because it was just a great deal, but I quicky found out it was a great car. I still wish to have a 240, but the fuel injected 6 is a pleasure to own and though the car is heavier, it still pulls very nicely. You can't go wrong either way, they are both very nice cars - In my opinion. Good luck

		Thats the same ones I have - originally black. I like them but mine loosen with vibration and have to be torqued from time to time. I suspect there is no backing plate.

		Just purchased 240z - more than one issue
		
		I have a 280 but some issues are common: #2 oil pressue - frequently discussed issue, usually associated with the sender unit failing with age. A new unit can be purchased for about $60 or less if you buy non-oem grade. #3 overheating is also common - but I think it is better for a 240 owner to speak to this or you can check the search function - I sure there are lots of related threads. 		Rick/mike We should start a club - there wasn't enough liquor in Halifax for me to get one. The lads I hung around with did it as a matter of form - get drunk, get a tatoo. Some were quite elaborate and took several visits to complete. One guy I knew was a bodybuilder and had one that covered his entire back to just below collar height, It was satan sitting on a throne, surrounded by naked, large breasted women with the caption "sworn to fun, loyal to none". I bet his wife likes that, especially now that he's 55 years old.
