  1. It was the title that was dubious - the mirrors are worth whatever the market will bear. I just didn't think it would be so much - silly me. Moonpup - how many do you actually have?
  2. Can you post a couple of pictures of the ones you are selling?
  3. Just got the notice that a set of Black pearl mirrors that I was bidding on went for over $200. Am I nuts or are they the same ones I have on my car - dealer installed type? They certainly look like it. (Earlier described as Darth Vader Mirrors) Anyway it'll be a long time befor I pony up that much + shipping ($25).
  4. Hey Ben - Same here only I bought mine on ebay, very annoying
  5. Mine came with them and I assumed they were dealer installed. They are made of white metal and are gradually disintegrating. The ball has erupted through the bottom of the mirror shell - I have done some weird stuff to keep them intact - unfortunately every time either of the doors gets a hard close (no slamming alowed) one or both of the mirrors shift. The point of my post is be careful how much you tighted the screws if there is any sign of corrosion - the shell will collapse eventually. Then you to will have only one mirror. Good luck
  6. Realities of salt belt life - I went to my house last night to get the mail and ended up getting the snowblower out to do the driveway. After a 1/2 hour blowing snow I was topping up the snowblower with gas in the shed - I looked at the vague shape of my Z under it's cover. I had to peel off the sheets to admire her for just a couple of minutes - all waxed and shiney. A look from the front, from the rear, down the passenger side. 4 months is a long time. I can relate.
  7. Hey Topman, whats the deal on the advertising beneath all your posts? They remind me of "Fullhouse"... are you one and the same? Where do you live down under?
  8. Mine is factory and the symtom you describe was caused on it by a small split in a vacum hose on the passenger side by the wheel well in the engine comp. I found three spots where the hoses slip onto connector sleeves (one was at the FI side) - hard to see but once removed to inspect it was evident. I simply cut off the bad spot and slid it back on - there was enough slack in the hoses that I could have done it two or three times. Otherwise $5 at Napa. Now that is fine but can't adjust the heat. It's on or nothing - at least I have it if I want it.
  9. Welcome 2m280zs to the site, I'm sure you'll find pretty well any information you need here. We have a few walking, talking, driving Z encyclopedias as well as a very useful search function. You probably realize that already though. You should post a couple of pics of your Zs. BTW - I don't think the big bumpers and FI are so bad
  10. Patience, if you order it will come.
  11. It looks very nice except the talk of the bottom being pushed in - I would like to know what that means. Some bottom shots would do it. The diamond pattern is not in all the post 240 cars, this looks like the 280 style covering, the rest of the car looks nice. If you are serious, you should ask all the specific questions you need to satisfy yourself befor getting involved in the auction. I would want to see pics of everything. If I wasn't going back to court with Xwife #2 - this would be interesting.
  12. Just got PS3 befor Xmas and it's hooked up to a 52" HD tube - got to say any game on this system looks almost lifelike, NBA 2008 (EA) is weird to watch - occasionally it appears to be a real game. Anyway, I am going to tie it into the LAN when I get home from this trip and download the (prologue) - reports to follow.
  13. Steve - when I try that thread I am asked to log in again - weird.
  14. Probably not worth checking, they are listed with no pictures showing 10/69 and 11/69 build dates. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1970-Datsun-240Z-Vin-00305-11-69-Prod-Num-match-project_W0QQitemZ150205829132QQihZ005QQcategoryZ6187QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1970-Datsun-240Z-Vin-00051-10-69-Prod-Num-match-project_W0QQitemZ160198806716QQihZ006QQcategoryZ6187QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Sensible? Carl...
  15. Pictures always help!
  16. I bet most people here have had at least one bad experience when restoring. We should have a page contianing the names of unscrupulious vendors/shops with a little information on them for club use. Might save someone a bad experience.
  17. Watch out for the old OEM trick too - the whole parts industry uses it verrrrry loosely. I read "original equipment manufacturer", but other see something else, which can leave you with something similar to the desired part but COMPLETELY unsuitable. I was recently a victim (another vendor) Buyer beware - we have a latin specialist that says it much nicer - same message though.
  18. It is interesting that he has changed his name three times. If you had a good rep why change your name? (rhetorical) I am with all the nay sayers - buyer beware.
  19. I was wondering what became of "ur-gelis". These items had a familiar ring.
  20. A thread will disappear into archives if you stop adding to it. (Hint hint.) Kinda like jock itch (or a fly bite if you prefer) - if you scratch it, it will itch.
  21. Most photo editors have a resize funtion in the edit pulldown. If you set the width to 800 it will automatically set the height to 600 - bobs your uncle.
  22. Ayyye Matie you've been at sea to long, arhhh.:pirate:
  23. Now guys - you see, some of us are actually appealing to the ladies Sorry Stacey - I had to make a jab at the lads. I agree with your philosphy (spelling?) on Z car repairs, unless it's beyond me to do - I'll try it myself.
