Whats going on?
Hey Lach + Bruce, Sounds good Lachlan, youve got a nice range of parts under your belt now! The bash tray and new bumper look great, if only i could find one... Might i ask where you managed to come across such an item [the bumper]? I was thinking of ringing all the local nissan dealers around perth, to see if theyd have any c110 bits left lying around in storage somewhere...? Is it worth it? Cant wait to see how the car looks after the suspension work is completed! What sort of suspension setup are you going for, in terms of springs and shocks? After this, theoretically, you could go all out with the motor!!!! Exciting stuff.... Ive been quoted at around $500-$550 to rekit the SU's, which entails replacing all the gaskets, needles, bushes etc. for new items, and anything else that is less than new. Additionally i was offered by the same guy to have them shipped over east and zinc coated, for a grand total of around $750...I think the former option is more in my ballpark....Interestingly, as this thread demonstrates, the differences can be astounding...after exams will be the car's time again Thats sad to hear, Bruce! By the sound of things previously, your cars were going along swimmingly! As you say, more time to think about their potential ....Crazy, crazy sacreligious thoughts have gone through my mind lately, to commit to maybe a 1jz or 2jz engine swap due to the price! Its still a six though!!?!? So, on this site, roughly, there would be about 10-15 active c110 members? Any others maybe over at skylinesaustralia.com? Cheers, Tom

Whats going on?
After thinking about plans for my own car today, i started to wonder. How are all the c110 guy's cars going at the moment? It seems like things are a little stagnant on this side of the forum, apart from a few users who are regularily active [im probably one of the stagnant ones at this stage]. So i guess the purpose of this thread is to document how eveyones' car is going and what their coming plans are for it...[i havent seen kyteller (michael) on this forum in ages]. Oh and it would be great if we could get a c110 register going in australia, as every day another c110 is butchered for those bloody heartless 510 bastards Cheers, Tom p.s, im getting some my brakes redone soon, and the twin su's rekittted...

WA Datsun meet - every second Wednesday of each month
Ahhh thanks for the clarification, craig. But aren't i correct in thinking that the 'C' in 240C suggests cedric? I seem to recall it being mentioned in a previous thread - maybe ive been confused? I have a downward exhaust tip too, but not nearly as pronounced as the one on this car, i was exemplifying the pronouncement of it. Maybe mine isnt prnounced enough!?

Stromberg 175 CD-2 SE vs. SU Carbs?
Not to be rude, but i feel a little compelled to interject. Firstly, for what reasons are Strombergs crap? I too would like to know what differences there are between 'proper' Su's [like the ones i have on me c110] vs strombergs? I was considering at one stage buying a set of 'bergs but i knew little about them, aside from the fact that holden successfully used a triple stromberg setup on the LJ Torana GTR XU1. Many other manufacturers im sure, used this setup to their advantage. So why didnt holden decide for a twin, or triple SU setup? I think a little more information, other than 'theyre crap', is needed before a decision is made? Regards, Tom

Showus Yuh Wheels, Aussie!!
I think theyre fine as they are. Despite the tyres being a little stretched, the contact surface is probably optimised as opposed to a tyre that is the 'correct' size for the rim, with part of the tread being wasted... Why do watanabe users often have no centre caps installed?

1972 Skyline GT exhaust pics
Very, very sexy system, i think this inspires me to take some pics of my own ! I like the fact that its a twin system the whole way through. Muffler isnt too large though, whats the diameter of one of the two pipes?

Aussie 240K on Ebay
Looks okay, definitely worth it as a parts car, but $250+ worth it? I guess Id buy it anyway if it were in perth, due to the absoloute lack of these things!!

Sound
Ahhh fantastic Jim!! Wonderful, wonderful pics, i keenly await the sound, and perhaps a video now!! Interesting info regarding the purchase, i think that mustve been the most sensible way to purchase a c10 in Aus - from someone else! The internals sound great, too :classic: How did it go against the other guy's c10 down the straight? Oh and finally, did you recieve any perplexing comments from s13/s14/s15, r32/r33/r34 drivers? :stupid: Just out of interest, what is prohibiting you from road registering it? I know of other c10's that have been road registered in aus, so im sure youve attempted it so far? Hope to hear more about this magnificent beast! Ben, There arent a great deal of c10's in Australia, either, as they were not sold in this country. We recieved the s54 prince skyline series, however, including the gta and the gtb models [the ancestor to the first gtr really], thus there are a few surviving examples [note few ] According to a summary of the Prince Skyline owners 40th Anniversary national meeting at Beechworth in a local classic car magazine, around 30 prince skylines attended, the majority of which were s54's. As Jim was present at the meet, he may be able to clarify this a little, but i would imagine that there would not be many more 'healthy' s54 or earlier prince skylines in australia than the figures mentioned. Regards, Tom p.s just beat me to my post jim!

gotta sell my 69 fairlady
Fantastic thread, ive been following it the whole way through! Im glad there are a great deal of literate people on this forum [compared to others], as the nomenclature and structure of posts has been wonderful. As an excercise in English alone, its a scintilating achievement. :classic:

EOI watanabe 15x8.5"
Ahhh thanks Mick, i think having a nice, clean set of Wats is perfect for any zed or early skyline street car. Whats really ricey is putting disgusting, distasteful crystallized blingy wheels on a perfectly good zed or skyline....that and maybe outrageous dish - like this...

Sound
Ok sounds great!! Have you taken her onto the track prior to this occasion? Okay now this opens up an absoloute can of worms for me :classic: Im sure you may have discussed with other members the history of your c10, but briefly would you be able to explain how it came to be in your possesion? Oh and what sort of power (roughly) do you think youre making at the fly? Cheers, Tom

EOI watanabe 15x8.5"
What the hell is wrong with having them on a street car???!?!?

Sound
Nice whine... Now that hollinger 'spacer' sounded odd to me too, however, my friend appeared quite convinced it exists, or perhaps something similar of a nature that would alter gear ratios ..?? Ill have to ask him... That would have been one of the most aurally enjoying professions!! I envy you! Some of the motorbikes you mentioned i cant relate to, however, as you said theres something spine tingling about a straight six howl! Ever heard the roar of a Chrysler 265cu in. hemi in the e49? Or the holden 202 six sucking through triple strombergs and tuned to within an inch of its life in the LJ GTR XU1? I must say, one of the most beautiful 'modern' engine notes has to be from the Ferrari F355 V8 - a masterpiece  And i would love to know if ANYONE has heard a Plymouth Road Runner before, i understand they were equipped with a driver warning due to the intense power and torque output for the time - a nightmare in the wet! I would love to hear a straight eight!! I can sort of imagine an intensely deep rumble at idle [deeper than mostly anything else], growing into an almost deafening roar [these motors would probably only rev to 4000rpm!] Howbout the flat twleve of the ferrari 512M, apparently very distinctive and beautiful, but then again how could it not be in a ferarri!?! That exhaust sytem you described, i assume for the s54 skyline gtb, sounds delightful [pun intended :classic:]! I was acutally planning a similar setup for my c110, however it wasnt economically viable at the time So wheres the sound you recorded of the c10, im anxious to hear it!!

Who's game? (240K on ebay)
Yeah sound sokay, good parts car perhaps - HOW MANY COUPES!!?? Havent seen a sedan advertised for ages, not that it bothers me but its just interesting...
-
Sound
Cheers, yeah the standard 4/5 speed datsun gearbox has a horrible jump in ratios from 2nd to 3rd. Shortening the diff ratio would have an effect too...I heard from a friend that hollinger make some sort of spacer that shortens the 2nd/3rd ratio. Anyone substantiate this?

Sound
Hey, Since the last sound recording of my car was met with much acclaim, ive posted here a snippet of it again at full tilt :classic: DSCN0001.zip

240Z on ebay.au in Melbourne
Not only 70's import japanese cars were subject to the ugly bung in place of a mirror. Just through observing mid to late eighties cressidas ive noticed they too employed this little fix-it...Probably other models were subjected..?
